A few months ago we gifted our Driver-Guide Christopher Muita a Nikon SLR camera with a 400mm zoom lens to capture the wild. Today, he captured this beautiful photograph of a leopard. Chris is proud of his camera, and his self taught photography skills. Now that he owns a camera, he has a much better understanding of what the photographers in his safari vehicle want!

Five to six years back Lake Nakuru was a lake of pink with literally millions of flamingos. It was a wonderful sight to see. Today, the water level has risen, but there are only less than a thousand on a given day. Still making it a wonderful opportunity for photographers.

Most of our guests come to Kenya for their unforgettable safari, but the Oosters family from Belgium decided to start their vacation on the coast of Kenya (which we organized for them) and then do their safari to Tsavo and Amboseli, and return to Nairobi.

Position in the perfect spot, add to that some patience, and the result will be a perfect shot!

Self-defense or love?

Cats can often bite the back of the neck of the female during mating and the most popular theory is that it is to stop her from attacking while the male is in a vulnerable position, as the withdrawal is painful for the female. But this bite was just for a fleeting moment and the mating continued without any more bites, or an attack, or any signs of pain from the female, so maybe they also do it as a way of showing some love - a "love bite"?:)

A drama of the survival of the fittest (smartest?) is about to unfold in the vast plains of the Masai mara as the four cheetah brothers close in on their targets. The wildebeests on the other hand seem unsure, whether to stay or run.

Nothing good comes easy!!

Hundreds of thousands of wildebeests making the precarious journey across the Mara river in search of greener pastures. Some become easy food for crocodiles, some drown, some get trampled in the stampede and break their legs, trying to clamber up the rocks and steep slopes. Many of them succeed too. A must-see spectacle that unfolds every year in the mighty Masai Mara.

Our safari drivers are fully vaccinated, and so are the majority of the lodges and camp staff we stay in. It is wonderful to see more and more vaccines coming in to Kenya and camp and lodge staff not only protecting themselves, but protecting the visitors.
