What is Mock Trial? Basically it is exactly what the name suggests: a MOCK TRIAL
Students take on the roles of attorneys and witnesses, acting out a case in competition (prosecution vs. defense) against another team or school. Usually, competitions are tournament style, so we have the opportunity of competing against not only the best schools in the nation, but other schools from all over the coun

try. How is it different from high school Mock Trial? It is the same basic concept. We get a case each year and there are still 3 attorneys and 3 witnesses for each side. The biggest difference is that there are usually a number of variable witnesses available, so each trial may consist of completely different witnesses and no two trials are ever the same. Also, we compete not only at the regional and national competitions, but at university hosted invitationals as well. This means we travel and compete much more than in high school mock trial. How do I get Involved? We hold invitational meetings during the first week of school in September and then tryouts are usually held the first weekend of October. Due to the tournament schedule, we try to get the teams settled and practicing as soon as possible so that they are ready to compete in the November tournaments. Hello everyone! If you wish to learn the foundations of collegiate mock trial, practice with a certified AMTA case, and participate in a mock trial tournament held by our UCSD Triton Mock Trial team, join us for our annual TMT summer bootcamp! You will have the opportunity to improve your writing, public speaking, and analytical skills while also getting a chance to work with attorney coaches and experienced current members of our team. You do not need to have any prior mock trial experience to participate and it is a great way to gain some experience and practice if you are interested in joining our team in the fall! Make sure to sign up by the July 31st deadline at tinyurl.com/tmtsbc if you wish to participate!
