TO MY FELLOW MUSICIANS:

PLEASE CARRY THE AFM LETTER allowing instrument carry-on! I just witnessed another guitarist in Chicago being told by a gate agent to check his instrument! (I was too late to catch him and tell him!)

Arrive at the gate at least 40 minutes early and speak DIRECTLY to The Captain as they arrive, shaking his/her hand, explaining the situation and presenting The AFM Letter of Understanding. Many times, we will make space (even in the cockpit) for your instrument; we do understand!

While respecting gate agents and flight attendants authority, THE CAPTAIN is the final authority regarding the operation of a flight; put it in their hands (without disrespecting the agents.)Quietly and discretely meet the Pilot In Command!
