Maysville Heritage Quilt Trail A walking trail of colorful Quilt Blocks These Quilt Blocks represent a time honored tradition of quilts and those that create them.

The downtown business owners are pulling together to create a walking trail of Quilt Blocks in our beautiful historic Downtown Maysville, KY. Our trail is part of the larger Quilt Trail that is now in 30 States and parts of Canada. The Quilt Trail was started 10 years ago by Donna Sue Groves of Adams Co OH, to honor her mother, Maxine Groves, a quilter. She envisioned the trail to help showcase our rural areas and promote community art and tourism.

The Quilt Trails have lost a great friend. Jo Ramey helped to start the Carter County Quilt Trail, one of the first in Kentucky. She was a dear sweet soul and touched the lives of many people, including mine. I will miss her deeply💐

Joleen Ramey, 69, of Carter Caves Road, Olive Hill, was embraced by God on Saturday morning, May 27, 2017, at her residence. She was born on July 31, 1947 in Portsmouth, Ohio a daughter of the late William ‘Bill’ and Lola Kiser Justice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son,...

Nina Maxine Groves left this earth today. Beloved mother, teacher, and quilter. While my heart aches for Donna Sue, it is still so very full of love, admiration, and joy. Yes, joy. Because until the very end, Nina Maxine loved Donna Sue, loved her farm, loved quilting, and loved what had become of the barn quilt trails. Nina Maxine not only inspired the quilt squares but she was an integral part of the creation of the first trail.

So I ask that you please keep Nina Maxine and Donna Sue in your thoughts and prayers. If you don't already, I also ask that from this day forward when you spot a quilt square, please smile. Smile and remember Nina Maxine. Smile and remember all those special people who have brought love, friendship, and joy into your life. Smile.

So honored to paint this quilt block in tribute to Trooper Blake Tribby who selflessly gave himself in the line of duty to help others. This block hangs on the canoe building at KSP Trooper Island at Dale Hollow. Lake. Trooper Island exists to help underprivileged children and depends on donations to do their great mission. If you are looking for a worthy charity, this is certainly a deserving one. I left the island today with newfound friends and respect for all our KSP Troopers do.
