I love trying new food flavors and drinks on vacation. While on the Regent Seven Seas Grandeur last month, I enjoyed Pretty in Pink off The Gin Way menu in the Meridian Bar. Very refreshing grapefruit flavored gin. A member of the Regent staff recommended it. She called it a goblet of yumminess! She was correct! The Ginger Bite was also very good. 🍹

Our British Isles cruise stopped in Belfast and we did a cool tour of the Giant's Causeway. It was really raining that day and the rocks became very slick, so be careful!
The Giant's Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. It is located on the north coast of Northern Ireland.

The next port of call on our British Isles cruise was Liverpool. We had never been before so of course we headed directly to the Beatles Story experience. https://www.beatlesstory.com/ It was really interesting because they had many recorded interviews with various members of the band as well as the manager so you could hear their voices while looking through the rooms. I highly recommend this exhibit if you get a chance. I was a little too young to enjoy the Beatles during their heyday, but I knew enough to make this experience well worth it. They have many rooms made up to be exactly like the originals bars and places they performed.
Our cruise made port in Dublin, so we reached out to our Irish friends who live South of Dublin to meet up with us for the day. We learned the hard way that there are two cruise ports for Dublin. One is 1.5 miles away. The other is 40 minutes. They traveled to the close one. We made port in Dún Laoghaire. Dún Laoghaire is a suburban seaside town and seaport nestled at the foothills of the Dublin Mountains in Ireland.
We were told by locals that the taxi stand was just a few blocks from the cruise port and we could get a ride to Dublin from there. It was raining. We walked the few blocks to find there was a taxi stand, but no taxis. We waited for about half an hour and still no taxis. We had seen a train station on the way to the taxi stand, right across the road from the cruise port, so we made our way back down and bought train tickets to Dublin. We were all soaking wet by now and some of our group were getting a little crabby. :-)
About half way to Dublin, our train broke down and we were stuck on the tracks for awhile before being asked to get off the train and wait for another train.
We finally made it to the city and met up with our friends for lunch and a Guinness. They showed us a few sites, and we wrote post cards to send back home and popped them in the green post box.
We took the train back to the cruise port and . . . yep. It stopped on the way. Delay due to an accident on the train tracks with another train. We had about 15 minutes to spare when we walked back on the ship.
Our first port on our British Isles cruise was Guernsey. It's a beautiful town, easily walkable. There is a sea wall that leads to the castle and while we were walking across the top of the wall, a fog rolled in and swallowed the whole town. It was really cool to watch.
As we walked around the town, we came across a Tavern with a sign talking about the distance from the tavern to the church.
The Town Church itself is featured in the Guinness Book of Records. It's the closest Church to a pub in Great Britain, with the distance being measured at just 18 inches from the nose of the gargoyle you can see at roof level.
Our family enjoyed 12 days in the British Isles last month. Our first stop after leaving London was Stonehenge. The first time we visited was in 1997 when our tour bus was so late getting there that we were given about 20 minutes to basically RUN around Stonehenge and get back to the bus. It was really nice to have a private tour this time just for our family. We spent 3 hours at the site and it still wasn't enough to see everything, between the stones, the burial sites all around them, the fresh fruit market close by, the fields of cows on the path back to the visitor's center, and the dwellings from the time Stonehenge was built. It is incredible to see. And of course, you need time for a beef pasty in the cafeteria along with some ginger lemonade. It's a great day trip from London to Southampton before boarding your cruise ship.
Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, two miles (3 km) west of Amesbury. It consists of an outer ring of vertical sarsen standing stones, each around 13 feet (4.0 m) high, seven feet (2.1 m) wide, and weighing around 25 tons, topped by connecting horizontal lintel stones. Inside is a ring of smaller bluestones. Inside these are free-standing trilithons, two bulkier vertical sarsens joined by one lintel. The whole monument, now ruinous, is aligned towards the sunrise on the summer solstice. The stones are set within earthworks in the middle of the densest complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred tumuli (burial mounds).
Archaeologists believe that Stonehenge was constructed from around 3000 BC to 2000 BC. The surrounding circular earth bank and ditch, which constitute the earliest phase of the monument, have been dated to about 3100 BC. Radiocarbon dating suggests that the first bluestones were raised between 2400 and 2200 BC, although they may have been at the site as early as 3000 BC.
One of the most famous landmarks in the United Kingdom, Stonehenge is regarded as a British cultural icon. It has been a legally protected scheduled monument since 1882, when legislation to protect historic monuments was first successfully introduced in Britain. The site and its surroundings were added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1986. Stonehenge is owned by the Crown and managed by English Heritage; the surrounding land is owned by the National Trust.
Stonehenge could have been a burial ground from its earliest beginnings. Deposits containing human bone date from as early as 3000 BC, when the ditch and bank were first dug, and continued for at least another 500 years.

We (Shelley and Erica) recently attended our travel agent conference aboard the brand new beautiful Norwegian PR1MA. Some of our favorite things about the ship included… -The Ocean Boulevard that encircled an entire deck with bars and eateries along the way and a beautiful lengthy glass section to peer at the ocean below. -The spacious luxurious showers, super soft bedding, and large balconies with comfortable lounge chairs. -PR1MA Speedway Go Kart Racing. -INDULGE: a food truck inspired dining experience where you order on tablets at the table from different food genres and they bring the dishes to you. -Virtual Gaming Arcade (we killed some zombies🧟♀️). -The theater transforming from traditional stage to party club scene at night. -Soleil Bar with views of the wake and last but not least… -The Donna Summer Show #VoyagerTravelGroup #NCL
