“Swinging Bells” is a new interactive light installation you simply cannot miss this holiday season at Beacon Park in Downtown Detroit. Throughout history, bells have been rung out across the world as a symbol of celebration and peace and have brought people together to commemorate important events. Artists Amigo & Amigo were inspired by this percussive instrument and created five larger-than-life Swinging Bells placed throughout Beacon Park.

Our family celebrated our Mother's 90th birthday and the Destination Detroit tour was the highlight. Being able to see their Boston Edison neighborhood was a treat for four generations. My mother was even able to speak with the current resident of the house she lived in over 70 years ago! It was just the right mix of reminiscing of my mom's past and seeing the Detroit of today. The Motown Museum has landed one of the biggest single gifts so far in its ongoing $50-million expansion campaign.

Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott is donating $5 million to the museum's fundraising cause, which will expand Motown Records' original headquarters into a 50,000-square-foot complex.

Visitors are coming back and Motown is top on their list of must see attractions. St. Louis fans were in town to catch the game at Comerica Park and Adventure Caravan group stopped in Detroit to take in the sites before rolling on up north! STOP in the name of love! We sure enjoyed having everyone back in the "D"!

Oudolf Garden Detroit is an all-volunteer group dedicated to placing and maintaining a Piet Oudolf designed garden on Belle Isle in Detroit. The Belle Isle Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to improving Belle Isle for the people of southeast Michigan and its visitors, serves as the fiscal sponsor for Oudolf Garden Detroit. Piet Oudolf is the internationally renowned Dutch garden designer and horticulturist who created the High Line in New York City and the Lurie Garden in Chicago. His public gardens transform people and places.
“Piet is the premier garden designer for public landscapes today. His designs connect the history of a site with aspirations for the future of the community. His gardens evoke the natural history of prairies, meadows, and woodlands while still being highly artistic. They are more than just artistry, they attract numerous wildlife — birds, insects and animals — for the enjoyment of all in the garden.”
Although the garden is not open to the public until later this summer, our tours will take you by the garden to see what's blooming now and learn about the future rain garden and special plantings expected later in the season.

Regretfully, the current and seemingly on going spread of COVID has forced Destination Detroit Tours to only provide narrated City Highlight tours limited to 3 hours until further notice. This is in response to restaurants and venues following necessary mandates to limit hours of operation and reduced capacity. Once we are clear of this situation I will resume customized group tours and look forward to sharing ALL Detroit has to offer! Thank you for your continued support and understanding!
