I’m thrilled to be in Iceland. But I’ve also been sad this week. And heartbroken. And yet, still having fun. And also reinvigorated about the gift of life.

I landed in Reykjavik to the news of the American Airlines crash. And a few hours later, I got word of a much more personal tragedy – the sudden passing of a client. And not just any client, one that I had a special connection with because of our shared experiences. We didn’t just talk about travel. We talked about being caregivers for spouses with brain cancer, we talked about loss and the challenges, fears and joys of being single parents. We talked about our kids, mutual friends, music and yes, we also talked about travel.

It’s been hard to concentrate the past few days. But I’ve pushed through because I’m meeting beautiful new people in a beautiful new place. I’ve danced like I haven’t danced in years, stood under a hot springs waterfall and have felt grateful for every moment.

Let this be another reminder to savor every single second with the people you love; enjoy every opportunity that you’re given no matter how small; and don’t put off your dreams, whatever they may be.

Life can be hard. But life is also precious, short and full of beauty and amazing moments.

As we reflect back on this year, we’re honored that you allowed us to be part of your engagements, elopements, honeymoons, babymoons, anniversaries, graduations, family reunions, spring breaks, summer vacations, bucket list trips, empty nest celebrations, weekend getaways, concert and sports experiences, surprise trips and trips to honor the lives of those you’ve loved and lost.

We’re also pretty proud of our own 2024 highlights:

My last trip of the year once again took me to the most famous red carpet in the world.

ILTM (International Luxury Travel Market) Cannes is the largest and most prestigious event of the year for anyone working in the luxury travel industry. Over 9,500 advisors, hoteliers, tourism boards, DMCs and more from the around the world gathered on the French Riviera for four days of appointments, networking and parties.

It’s a chance to learn, build new relationships and strengthen existing ones to create the best travel experiences possible for our clients.

Lisa and AK enjoyed this week in Barbados with Marriott, touring their luxury hotels that are under renovation and set to reopen soon.

From hard hat tours, beach and pool time, a cave tour, dinner by a Michelin star chef, a drone show and a night on the dance floor, we couldn’t have asked for a better work week!

I’m now 52 years old and proud of it!

With this birthday, I’m seven years older than my first husband, Scott when he passed away and the same age as my dad when he passed away.

I don’t take this year’s birthday for granted. I’m going to enjoy every little good thing that comes my way, take advantage of every opportunity to live my life to its fullest including seeing the world, love on my friends and family and keep perspective on challenges that come my way. Life is a gift every day!

The MICHELIN Guide has expanded their awards beyond restaurants with their new Hotel Key awards to mark the world’s most exceptional hotels.

These hotels are more than just a place to lay your head; they excel at hospitality, details and create exceptional memories.

Many of our favorite and most-booked hotels have been awarded one, two or three keys this year in the US and around the world.

No matter how many trips I currently have booked, I'm always counting down the days to my next visit to France (currently at 68 days)!

As the country that I've visited the most, I especially love helping clients plan their perfect trip whether it be to experience all that Paris has to offer, discover the bounty of Provence, bask in the sun on the riviera, explore castles in the Loire Valley, ride bikes through one of the many wine regions, sip bubbles in Champagne, or walk through history in Normandy.

It's rare to have a month when at least one LISA client isn't exploring France and some months, we have as many as ten clients there. If France is on your travel list, the Life Is Short Adventures team can plan the ideal itinerary to help you fall in love.

I have clients who arrived in Italy on Sunday for a two week exploration of a mix of popular highlights and off-the-beaten-path locations.

One of my favorite spots that's not on the radar of most Americans is Forti dei Marmi, a charming Italian sea town in northern Tuscany. Forti dei Marmi provides an authentic Italian beach experience combined with great shopping, multiple Michelin-star restaurants and one of the best open-air markets in the country.

Riding bikes from Hotel Villa Roma Imperiale into town is a special memory that I enjoy reliving through client trips.

Italy's popular cities are wonderful, but sometimes your best memories are made in lesser known destinations.
