Great article but I would say it is more of a "reappreciation" as the travel advisor community has been here the whole time plugging away on behalf of our clients.

For us, the nightmare of the last 19 months had a huge silver lining...more people now keenly understand what we do, how it works and why we are so valuable.

Just ask the DIYers how much fun it is to fight with the airlines, insurance companies, and decipher the ever-changing travel restrictions and policies...spoiler alert...ITS NOT!

But it is a small part of the job really. In the big picture, we use our often first-hand knowledge and expertise to create amazing experiences and memories that will last forever. We work behind the scenes to help make sure things go smoothly. And, if by some chance they don't, we jump into action to help make it right. We are not about one faceless online transaction...that Expedia's and Costco's gig. We are about building personal relationships with our clients that will last years and even decades.

Finally, the word resurgence implies that our industry was previously stagnant or in decline. That is most certainly not true. Over the past 10-15 years or so, it has been truly awesome to see all the talented young people join the travel advisor community. They bring great energy, ideas, new business strategies and a direct connection to a new generation of consumers that align with their demographics.

So yes, we are indeed here and we are better than ever. If you don't have a relationship with a professional travel advisor, maybe now would be a good time to start...Just ask me, I happen to know a whole bunch of them!

Yesterday, my podcast brother, Mr. Tom Karnes and I recorded our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY episode...my oh my how time flies.

In preparation for the upcoming release of this new episode, we thought you might want to catch up with any of the past conversations that you may have missed.

Going back to August of last year, I have made it my mission as a professional travel advisor and industry advocate to actively get out to our top international vacation destinations to experience first-hand what travel looks and feels like in the changing environment we have found ourselves in.

I hope that by doing this, I am helping to educate, address concerns and build confidence for our clients. Plus, I love to travel so staying home was not an option!

For my eighth trip over this time, I recently had the great fortune to visit the Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita in Riviera Maya, MX, just 15 minutes south of the Cancun airport.
