Fall Branch Falls – This fabulous Fall Branch Falls can be discovered by taking a moderate to difficult hike that is 2.6 mile round trip. To get there drive about 1.5 miles from the Cherohala Skyway on CNF Trail 87. Travel onto TN Hwy 165 E (Cherohala Skyway) 20.9 miles. Park at the Rattlesnake Rock West pull-off, on your left. Take Trailhead FS Trail 87 that is blazed in white markings. This trail starts on an old road bed, then it cuts right, down a steep hill. Not hard to get down but tougher to get back up, fun and adventurous all the way. The last 75 feet is steep but well worth the hike to discover this enchanting water feature, 70 feet – Fall Branch Falls.

You can hear the hummingbirds spittin and spatten at each other. We have one mean one that likes to shoo off all the others. There is one in every crowd, no, there is one every year.

Little Woodie making lots of noise. I see he has a new hole started in a dead tree by the feed off our porch. He's decided possibly to move from the back yard to the front yard to provide easier? Maybe a family soon?

Always a variety of cool aircraft checking out the mountains.

I take the bird feeders down during high winds but we had 2 solid days of rain, bad wind with clouds and the birds were hungry! They looked like they were having as much fun as I was watching them out the kitchen window.

The hills are alive! and so am I - Count your blessings everyday!

Hit Buck Bald twice yesterday. Once for a picnic and once for a #Buckbald sunset last night. The Geminid meteor shower was outstanding the last two nights 3-4 a.m. Our weather could not be any better and the skies with the milky way have been really clear and full of stars. That's an update on our "night life" around here!

Take a little ride with us up the Cherohala Skyway

Yesterday watched helicopter landings and take off's at Wauchessi Tower. All kinds of air craft training goes on around here.
