Arizona Foreign Language Tours was founded by Rodney Cole, who as a teacher of the German language started in 1991 organizing student exchanges and later tours of Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Rodney Cole, known by his students as “Herr Cole,” felt that the only way to really learn the language an
d about the culture was to travel among the locals. Thus a number of tours were organized. The success of these tours led to the current annual tours. Rodney believes that small group tours are the best way to enjoy this amazing experience. All the tours are planned for not more than twenty participants, and generally not more than 15. The group grows to know each other quite well through enjoying meals together in local restuarants, traveling together using local transportation and experiencing the varied sites together. An experienced tour guide, who knows the language and culture is there every step of the way. Herr Cole felt that every group member should be treated like a family member. For this reason, every effort is made to insure that the traveler has a trip of a lifetime.
