It is always bittersweet being the keeper of prizes for the hops. We love digging through the boxes of goodies but are sad when we fall in love and cannot keep them for ourselves. Looking for your dream job? We may be it. Shop Hop Inc is a marketing company that organizes revenue generating events for community quilt shops across the United States. (We are currently in 30 states, to be exact!) We are looking for the perfect new teammate (or two) to join our pretty fun crew helping us expand to keep quilt stores thriving. (Added perk: the office is often full of snacks and treats, laughter, camaraderie, and teamwork. You’ll like us, I promise!)

Here are the skill sets we are hoping to add more of in our team:
Creative design – helping make pretty and motivating marketing materials and presentations for our stores and customers, etc.
Inventory control – we manage a lot of materials coming and going between our office and our stores.

An eye for details and editing – we’re always happy to have another eyeball checking all the important stuff we’re creating.

Accurate data processing – we have tons of data and processes we’re all managing, so if you love databases, you’re our person!

Shipping & packaging – some days we think we could rival Amazon! That might be a slight exaggeration, but if you don’t mind getting some mild exercise on the job once in a while, we’ll take you up on it when we’re having an “Amazon day”. (Like after our prize drawings and kickoff days).

Phone skills – you’ll need to be comfortable being pleasant on the phone and in written communications. (Even on days where it may not seem as easy as others.)

Comfort getting into the weeds with Word, Excel, and Adobe.
Double BONUS if you know what Canva & MailChimp do!!

Social Media – FB is best for our demographic and we’re always happy to have more hands on deck managing 16 groups!!

Baking recipes – who doesn’t need treats at work?

We know that list is a tall order for one person, but if that’s you, you’ll be a shoe-in. However, we can mix and match as well. The position has full or part-time flexibility and would require mostly in person office hours. We are very flexible with hours and schedules. We can also teach, so if you are open to learning new things, we are too.

You do not need to have a passion for quilting to apply. (Although, it could potentially be a happy part that develops as part of the journey.)

Our sponsors help us make these shop hop events go around! They graciously donate advertising dollars to help support the cost of publishing the magazines and many donate prizes as well to be able to offer hoppers a chance at winning a "thank you" prize for getting out there and supporting our brick and mortar shops!

I took this prize out a few weeks ago to show it off during a Facebook Live Event. I couldn't help but stare at it. Look at those brilliant and beautiful colors. Even through the plastic they are just stunning! Global Artisans is has donated to our "I Made it Halfway" prize category for each of the 12 hops in 2024. MEET THE SHOP HOP INC TEAM! We thought it might be nice for you all to see the faces behind the shop hop events. We are a small but mighty team that eat, breathe, and sleep shop hops!

Wendy Marner - She is the doer of all things but probably your most favorite person as she is the one who coordinates all the prizes to ship out to you lucky hoppers. She also manages all of our shipments of magazines, kick-off boxes, retail items, replenishment supplies, etc. She is best friends with our UPS and Mail Delivery drivers and also the Post Master at the Post Office. She also coordinates all of our delivery trips to make sure we can personally meet all of our shops on the first year of the event.

Koleene Herlocker - Koleene oversees our entire operation to make sure we all stay on target for deadlines. She works with the fabric companies for each of the events to endure there is beautiful fabric for you all to collect. Designers fall under Koleene's jurisdiction as well. It is a lot of work to bring you all inspiration in the magazine but having these talented designers for each event makes the fabric come to life. Working with designers also includes our magazine designer, pattern editor and shop giveaway designers. Koleene does all sorts of other things as well but listing it all would require a novel! ;)

Brooke Schmidt - Our office Bookkeeper. She processes registrations, and listings for the resources page. She also invoices for all the things. She will also help out with any other project that needs to be done in order to make sure our ship sails smoothly.

Anne Pitts - She oversees the prize donation forms and has recently picked up managing the store ads and being the go between our designer and participating stores. She is great at doing reminder phone calls when needed. She will also pitch in when needed during different busy times of our events.

Mabel - The office dog. She is actually the boss of us all!

Jen Gasper - Manages Social Media and live events. Connects with all stores during the registration process to answer any questions and make sure no one misses an opportunity to participate. She also works with recruiting industry sponsors and prize donations and works together with them to promote their brand. There are more things that fall under her umbrella as well but this is a good snapshot to understand how we all have our own specialties.

Trina Bueckers - Trina works part-time with us and helps with packaging things to be shipped, passport entry, shipping the regional squares and will soon be in charge of intaking the prizes that arrive from our sponsors.

Chris Doty - She is a great help with editing the magazine. She is also in charge of the store giveaways and the go between our designer and shops. She helps with putting store bios up on the website and works with stores on proofing the regional maps for each magazine.

FRESH OFF THE PRESS!

Get an inside look at the Shop Hop experience through the eyes of Nancy Monson and Next Avenue. This PBS-affiliated journalism website dedicated to older adults recently featured our growing family of quilt Shop Hop events in an informative article.
The author visited several stores in one of our Shop Hop events and does a great job capturing what all the excitement is about. She even provides tips on how to find other quilt shop hops.
