I don’t think we’ve ever worked harder for permit in my career! Between goliath grouper, hammerhead sharks, and a pod of six dolphin, it seemed like we were never going to get one fish in the boat. We caught two permit in 12 hook ups out of a school that was being spooked from what seemed every predator in the area!
It was a day that seriously took patience and perseverance! Grateful we did it with the right guys! with and his family were so awesome to be with. nothing like being on the water with a bunch of folks that love Jesus! Makes it easier to be grateful for the whole experience! Even every lost fish! Thanks guys for coming out! Can’t wait for the next trip!

Over the last couple weeks my boys have started working on the boats for their summer job. It has been such a joy to be with them all day and work alongside them. Thanking God for the gift of my family and a job that I absolutely love!

A buddy dogged me saying I throw a @blackpearlcastnets because I can’t throw a 14 footer... well, yes I can and this one is the heaviest version a competitor makes. I still choose my black pearl nets all day! Because they spread like room temp butter and sink like lighting. And they are quiet on my deck without having to pay more for deck pads. But if they do come out with a 14 footer... I’m getting it.

She had another leader in her with about 30 feet of mono so we removed that first and then removed ours.

Such an epic first night that the Northcutt family came back out for round two and this is the first one @farmerguy03 reels in! She had About 20 to 30 feet of somebody else’s line still in her with the hook in the corner of the mouth. So when we released her we were able to get both hooks out and send her away safely tagged and swimming clean .

Greetings from the Gauntt Tribe! Our family was established and grown at our church in Hollywood, Florida, then swept onto the coast of El Salvador, and we now find ourselves back on Ft Myers Beach, Florida, the place we consider home. I’ve seen many coastal communities, but driving over the bridges from Bonita to Hickory to Lovers Key and finally to Fort Myers Beach makes me gasp every time. The mangroves, the the changing tides, the smell of island sulfur, ospreys overhead, dolphins under the bridge, the warm and salty air, the color of the bay at sunset, conch shell and sand dollars on a white sandy beach - forever my favorite piece of earth on the planet.
We’d been talking about it for years, but in January 2018 John finally began pursuing the credentials to be licensed and insured as a fishing charter captain. John was already an avid fisherman and boater, regularly taking our family out to explore the islands along the Gulf Coast, and perfecting the art of shark fishing with his best friend and brother, Parker, on the weekends. Fresh trout and snapper are regular meals in our home, and snook, well snook are just fun to catch for everyone. Between the fishing excursions and family adventures that we were already doing for ourselves, I knew John had something special to offer, could it be made available to friends, family, and beach vacationers alike. After months of night classes, exams, paperwork, waiting, phone calls, town hall visits, waiting, mariner interviews, and waiting (oh, and did I mention the paperwork?), we invested everything we had into a beautiful boat we named Genesis and Day 5 Charters was born.
As some of you bible scholars may have already put together, the name Day 5 comes from the account in Genesis of the creation of the world. On day five God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures...” (Gen 1:20). John’s and my hope for you is that through Day 5 Charters you would experience this abundance of life first hand. Whether you’re looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the Gulf Coast with some friends, take a much needed day of fresh sea air and vitamin D with good company, or want the excitement of reeling in the catch of your life and maybe even dinner, Captain John is sure to give you a day on the water that will leave you with good vibes to last and memories to share.
