Banyan trees are not native to Hawai’i , they were imported from India . Banyans are ecological linchpins. They produce vast crops of figs that sustain many species of birds , fruit bats and other creatures . For thousand of years , people have used banyans as sources of medicines. Let me tell you more interesting facts about this majestic tree on my “Road to Hana” tour .

Shark pit neighborhood food trade ! 💛🥙✨My neighbor trades his fresh fish with me for some home cooked meals . He gave me a big bag of it this week so I traded some of the fish with other neighbors for some deer meat and mango . I used what I collected to fix a meal and delivered it to the fisherman’s door! 🍽✨😊No money exchange , 4 family fed ,everyone wins!✨

So many of my clients are proud to show me they bought a “Reef safe “ sunscreen to use on their vacation ! Little that you know if you check the ingredients in it they all have few chemicals that affects our reefs 🤦🏽‍♀️. “But it’s FDA approved it should be trusted”🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️! Understand money rules the world and FDA is not to be trusted at all ! I am sorry ! Try and do your own homework , check the ingredients before you buy sunscreen . Don’t let the “Reef safe”labels fool you and go for a mineral sunscreen or just wear a hat and rash guard that works too !

Today I was gifted my own caution sign to protect the Monk seals because I am always calling the monk seal hotline for a volunteer to come protect the one napping at 505. 😂 If you know me you know I feel like I just won an Oscar or something 🤣💙So stoked on it ! 💙✨

Our first “Half day cultural immersion experience “ at Kipuka Olowalu was a success! ✨ Great team work , thank you Ua Aloha Maji and Karin Osuga ! You guys are the best ! 🙏🏼 Our guests started their day with a HI’UWAI ceremony at sunrise . Then I took them to Kipuka Olowalu where they got to volunteer their time pulling out invasive weeds , planting trees , learning about Hawaiian plants , making ti leaf and plumeria lei and to finish their morning they enjoyed an island style picnic lunch by the Olowalu stream . Guests were very pleased with the whole experience . 100% of the profit of this experience goes to Kipuka Olowalu . If you know me you know how happy I feel right now ❤️

Yesterday a friend asked me to share my tips with her on how I stay so positive most of the time even when she knows I am going through hard times too. Aren’t we all ? Well it’s like happiness and money if you wait for it to fall from the sky and land on your laps on a silver plater sorry it ain’t gonna happen . You have to work for it and then make sure you stay consistent with habits that uplift your mood .
Here is tip one :
I eat clean food first thing in the morning along with my Laird mushroom coffee 😉. And yes there is no scientific explanation behind it but the cup of coffee you use also matters , pick a fun one !

I don’t know about you all , but since the pandemic started my life have been a roller coaster of emotions, some extremely positive and some not so much at all. Still going through it but I am doing the work it takes to heal my mind and body . During my journey ,I was lucky to meet Cultural Hawaiian Practitioner UA and he offered me to try a HI’UWAI ceremony which is Hawaiian protocol of rebirth representing purification and cleansing. It helped me so much I can’t even explain what I felt that day . I let go of so much that was weighting me down and felt stronger that ever once the ceremony was done . Teaching my guest some survival tips I learned from my dad . The unique characteristics of volcanic rock , combined with heavy annual rainfall levels in volcanic islands create a natural water filtration process . Volcanic rock is a type of igneous rock called basalt , which can be found in abundance in the pacific volcanic islands . The porous nature of basalt along with other physical characteristics, makes it ideal for the natural filtration of water ! You are welcome 🤗

Great day today helping the crew at Kipuka Olowalu with their huge group of volunteers visiting from the mainland! They were all spread out in different stations and given an opportunity to give their time helping out with different projects on the property. In our station , volunteers helped making signs. They spray painted and varnished some wood slices with endemic tree names on them . These signs will be used on the property to help visitors identify the trees they get to see on their walk . It was an amazing event ! Great like minded people and high vibes !

✨I met this beautiful family 7 years ago when they signed up their « little girls » for surf lessons . It has been over 2 years since I had seen them because of the pandemic , the little girls are now beautiful young women and we had the best day together on the road to Hana . Ohana for Life ❤️ ❤️✨

What a fun morning educating pre schoolers about our coral reef . The teachers at the “Holly innocent” pre school are doing an amazing job teaching the next generation to care for our natural resources, the kids knew already so much about it I was very impressed. I love to volunteer my time planting trees but my schedule has been so crazy lately , I haven’t had the time to join any planting events for a while now . So instead I grow native plants from home and donate them to organizations so they can go plant them for me . 💚 Where there’s a will , there’s a way .🌱 🌱
