Speed limits are lower in national parks to help protect the wildlife. So slow down and enjoy the ride 😎

Animals get hit by cars every year. Help us protect the wildlife by observing the speed limit and staying alert to animals crossing.

Did you know that Joshua Tree is one of the best places in the world to see a meteor shower? And, they happen more frequently than you might think. Even if your visit doesn't coincide with a shower, the star gazing will be a brilliant experience. I wish I had taken this photo - it was taken by a photographer called kojihirano and caught my attention. All four of my vacation homes are close to the park entrance. Follow the link in my bio to check availability and reserve your trip.

Flowers and plants don't usually jump to mind when someone mentions the desert, but there is plenty of color to be found in Joshua Tree! The National Park contains parts of two deserts - the Mojave and the Colorado - which have different eco-systems. If you're a plant lover don't miss the Cholla Garden.

Looking for somewhere to stay when you visit the park? We have a range of vacation homes to suit every visitor to the area. Visit the link in our bio to check availability and book.

In a long-standing tradition of support between Joshua Tree and the local artist community, we are excited to partner with Harrison House Music, Arts & Ecology for SoundCheckEarth, a site-specific immersive acoustic concert. The first day of the event is on Friday, April 22nd, at 6:06 am, 10:00 am, and 11:30 am at Cap Rock. Please carpool as space is limited. All other attendees will be turned away once the parking and attendance space is full. The event itself is free but requires a park pass. Joshua Tree may not be top of mind as a kids' vacation destination, but there are many reasons for a family visit to the National Park. From bouldering to exploring the park to visiting local museums, there are lots of fun activities for all ages. And, if you're traveling through Palm Springs - or up for a day trip - the Palm Springs Ariel Tramway is well worth a visit. Our range of vacation homes sleep between three and eight people, and have plenty of indoor and outdoor space. Click on the link in my bio to check availability and book.

Here are some tortoise facts…

Tortoise sploot! Yes, that is the technical term.

Warmer temperatures are enticing reptiles like desert tortoises out of their burrows—and after a winter spent underground, they're ready to bask in the sun and munch on fresh green plants.

But what have they been up to in their burrows for so long? Tortoises, snakes, and other reptiles' can't handle the cold, so they enter a cold temperature-induced dormancy called brumation. During brumation, reptiles will occasionally move about to drink water but may continue to go without food for months at a time.

Similarly, these cold-blooded critters adapted for harsh desert climates will also aestivate or enter dormancy when hot temperatures become inhospitable and dangerous.

Both brumation and aestivation are forms of prolonged seasonal torpor, an animal's response to extremes in cold or heat—their body temperature and metabolic activity drop, conserving energy.

All in all, tortoises may spend up to 95% of their lives underground, whether brumating when it's too cold or aestivating when it's too hot.

While it's rare to see them on trails and roads throughout the park, keep this in mind, and watch out for tortoises, snakes, and other reptiles who may cross your path.

Whew, what a vocab lesson! Adaptations to environmental factors exist everywhere. Can you think of other ways people or animals adapt to changing conditions to survive?

As the clocks bounce forward I have been reflecting on how Joshua Tree National Park changes with the seasons, the weather, and the light at different times of the day. I really am blessed to enjoy this beautiful corner of the world. If you would like to experience the park for yourself, check out the link in my bio. We have vacation homes to suit everyone: if you are a group of two to eight (or somewhere in between); would like to be in town or a remote location; are looking for an active break versus a few days of doing nothing. We look forward to welcoming you to Joshua Tree!

Happy International Women's Day from the Founder of Joshua Tree Vacation Homes, Sati Ah.

On this day I am celebrating Coco Chanel. I began my design career in fashion and was inspired by how Chanel transformed fashion from uncomfortable corseted silhouettes to simple, comfortable, sporty and elegant casual chic. When designing my vacation homes I follow a similar formula: stylish living which is practical and comfortable.

What do you pack for a visit to Joshua Tree? Are you prepared?

With highs near 80°F ☀️ and lows near freezing ❄️, this week's forecast will reward people who plan for all kinds of weather.

Prepare for heat by packing sunscreen, heat protection, and plenty of water. Prepare for the cold by bringing insulating and windbreaking layers, as well as a hat and gloves.

Artistic Vacation Rentals In Joshua Tree

Hi, my name is Sati. Originally from the East Coast, I lived abroad for nine years before returning to the US about a dozen years ago and settling in the LA area. I have always been in love with the Joshua Tree area so purchasing a house here seemed the natural thing to do. I have a background in design and in addition to owning and managing four incredible vacation properties in Joshua Tree, I work across lots of different real estate projects.

My vacation properties in Joshua Tree are all unique so please take a look and decide which one would suit you best.

· My first house was Saddleback Oasis, I called it oasis because it is that for everyone who stays here.

· My second house Sahara Madre is so magical that when I walked through it the first time I saw its potential to provide refuge for city dwellers and the like to get away for a bit.
