Hilton Rose Hall 🇯🇲Full Review:
We visited last week with a group of about 60 (high school seniors and their families). Overall, this was a great fit for our group!
🍗 Food was great! The jerk chicken hut on the beach was a big hit! The grab and go food available throughout the day was really good (pizza, nachos, a taco bar one day). The buffet was also really good and had tons of options. Never had to wait for a table. The restaurants were a bit more difficult to get into (no reservations unless you have a butler, so first come first served). My favorite was the oxtail ravioli at the Rum Factory, others loved the chicken curry and salads at the Moonstone. Seaside Grill was also very good for dinner (my dinner there was super spicy!). Oh, we also did the Steakhouse which is an additional $40/person. I had the shrimp which was delicious, but some of the people that got the steaks didn't love them. Also, there is a really sweet dog family that lives there. We ate outside and the puppies were chasing each other nearby. One of our group fed them and the mama came out. She was very friendly. Our high school seniors went the next night and the staff gave them a bag of scraps to feed them. They weren't begging for food at all, but they happily accepted it!
🛎Speaking of butlers...some of our group paid for bulter service, some didn't! I think those that did felt like it was worth the extra $ ($50-$100/day). The butlers would set up chairs at the pool and beach, provide a cooler with various drinks (water, sodas, juices, beer, mimosas), make dinner reservations, and more. We had a few guests with food allergies and the butlers would help to navigate that as well.
💦Lazy river and water slides were a lot of fun for all ages! The pool bar was a hit with the adults (daily 3:30 happy hour🍹). One thing that I found really interesting was that swimming was allowed at anytime. There are signs posted that tell when the lifeguards are on duty, but you can swim at your own risk after hours. We swam our first night after dinner, but I don't think I saw anyone else swimming at night while we were there. I feel like most resorts don't allow swimming after about 6pm.
🛏 Rooms were nice and clean. There were a few spots were you could see some repairs had been made, but overall everything was in good shape. Many in our group commented that the AC was loud. It was in our room as well, but we didn't mind...white noise. Rooms are a typical Hilton room...not really a tropical vibe, but again clean and cool. Beds were comfy, water pressure was good in the showers.
🍽 Service was fine. Some was really good, some was not. If getting a butler, request Melissa, she was AMAZING! I'd say that most of the wait staff that we encountered at the restaurants and buffet were great. The bartenders during the day were hit/miss.
💃Nightlife...there was some kind of show every night. They were fun. Late night the group would head to the club. It's open to all ages until 11pm. At 11 they make an announcement for anyone under 18 to leave, but they don't really enforce that. My 13 year old stood next to me for a few minutes and then went back to the dance floor. I wouldn't have left her there if I wasn't there watching, but she had a great time dancing with her older brother and his friends. Karaoke was also in the club, the kids loved that! I thought this was going to be more of an issue since anyone under 18 has a green bracelet, but it really wasn't at all. The kids were all able to stick together. Perhaps if they were causing trouble they may have been more strict, but they had a great time.
Last year this group went to Dreams Flora. To compare, I'd say that the food and pools were better here. The beach, room quality, and service were better at Dreams Flora. This is a great resort for families! My husband and I said that we would go back to Flora on our own, but I don't think we'd go back here without the kids. Let me know if you have any questions!
