I currently have clients celebrating their 🥂 10 year anniversary in Croatia this week, so I thought I’d share a few things that they'll be experiencing during their time in this beautiful country.
🇭🇷Truffle hunting + Wine Tasting in Istria- This region is known for gastronomy and shouldn't be missed for those who consider themselves foodies.
🇭🇷 Visit Roman Ruins- Croatia was once under the rule of the Roman Empire. From Diocletian's Palace in Split (also a film site for Game of Thrones), the Roman Amphitheater in P**a, and the Roman Forum in Zadar, there are many Roman ruins that can be explored.
🇭🇷 Take a walk in nature and visit Plitvice Lakes National Park- Plitvice Lakes is the oldest and the largest national park in Croatia and is known for a chain of 16 terraced lakes that are joined by waterfalls.
🇭🇷 Island Hop- The western border of Croatia hugs the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea and many islands worthy of a stop, dot the coastline. The island of Hvar is known for lavender fields, superb wine, and yachting. It's also said to be one of the sunniest destinations in Europe!
🇭🇷 Harvest Oysters- Did you know that Croatia is one of the best places on earth to sample oysters? The clean salty waters of the Adriatic Sea are ideal for oyster farming + visitors can learn all about this production and experience it for themselves too!
🇭🇷 Walk the City Walls of the Old Town Dubrovnik- Dubrovnik is one of the best preserved medieval cities in the world and is recognizable from the series of defensive stone walls that surround the Old Town. Every visitor must take a walk atop the city walls to get a beautiful view of the city and sea + continue their stroll by wandering through the streets + alleyways below!

Game of Thrones fan or not, I would find it hard for anyone to not fall in love with the walled city of Dubrovnik! The history is fascinating, architecture charming, it’s a filming location for the popular GoT series, the food’s delicious, and the backdrop of the clear blue waters of the Adriatic Sea stunning. In short, I cannot wait to return! There are more streets that I need to stroll and getting out on the water is a must! If Croatia isn’t on your list, it really should be! 🇭🇷

If Zagreb is “Little Vienna” then the Istria Peninsula is “Little Tuscany”.
The Istria Peninsula is located in the northwest corner of Croatia and was actually under Italian rule until 1991 when the region officially became a part of Croatia. There is still a strong Italian influence here from the architecture, cuisine, the language, and you will even see road signs listed in both Croatian and Italian. For some Croatian's living in the Istria region, Italian is their first language followed by Croatian!
Roman history is abundant throughout the region, but especially in P**a. The roman amphitheater in P**a is tied with Verona, Italy for the 2nd largest outside of Rome and is the only one to have all four side towers completely preserved.
Rovinj, a charming fishing village, is located on the western coast of Istria. It's appropriately nicknamed 'Little Venice' for the colorful houses set side by side along the water's edge in old town and its location is almost exactly parallel to Venice, Italy across the Adriatic Sea. Visitors could easily spend a day wandering through the cobblestone streets!
Istria is widely known for it's gastronomy, especially for the special ingredient that can only be found in the center of the region-truffles! White and black truffles are found in the oak forrest around the mideval town of Motovun. Taking part in a truffle hunt is a highly recommended activity for travelers visiting during the harvesting season! If you're a truffle lover, and even if you aren't, you MUST stop into Konoba Mondo for a meal. This restaurant was featured in an episode of No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain and almost everything on the menu will include some type of truffle product. As you as you walk in the aroma of truffles hits your nose! AMAZING! Every dish here was incredible! Be sure to sample the local Malvazjia wine too. Delish!
Seaside villages, medieval towns, wine, and amazing gastronomy! Istria is truly magical!
Not even a little (or a lot😉) of rain could stop this group of travel advisors from having an incredible time exploring the city of Zagreb, Croatia!🇭🇷 Over the next week we’ll be traveling throughout the country gathering valuable first hand experience to better serve our clients.
After a walking tour of the city center, we traveled east to the Zagorje region known for its wine. Upon arriving to Vuglec Breg a Michelin star restaurant, we were treated to a 5 course lunch and wine tasting. Delicious! After lunch we participated in a cooking class where we prepared the traditional Croatian dish “strukli”, which is a cheese filled dough that can be baked or boiled and eaten as savory or sweet.

Everyone has a reason for “why” they take the trip and next week, I will set out to take a trip that ticks all three of those boxes! South Africa has long been a destination at the top of my bucket list and thanks to my supplier partner Personal Africa, I will finally experience it for the first time!
While I do hope for this trip to be rejuvenating and I would consider it a pre-celebration for a milestone birthday happening later this year, the number one reason for taking this trip is to LEARN! I am traveling to this bucket list destination so I can learn more about the country of South Africa as well as the many different ways that I can enhance my clients experience by partnering with the luxury destination management company,PersonalAfrica. I can’t wait to experience the wildlife up close, relax in the beauty and peace found while inside a private game reserve, explore the ‘mother city’ of Cape Town, and sip on a glass of South African wine produced in the winelands north of the city. To say I’m excited would be an understatement!

This means that starting at 12:01AM ET on June 12, 2022, air passengers will not need to get tested and show the COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 prior to boarding a flight to the U.S.”
Some destinations may still have Covid-19 entry protocols in place and forms required for travelers, but as of tomorrow proof of a negative Covid test to return isn’t one of them!

✨ Djemaa El Fna Square ✨could be considered the heartbeat of the medina in Marrakech. The square comes alive in the evening after day time temperatures have cooled. Food stalls + orange juice stands are set up, Amazigh (a.k.a. Berber) musicians strike up the music, henna tattoo artists attract passerby with their intricate designs, and locals + tourists alike flock to the market to participate in the entertainment!

How does one get into the spirit of Christmas quickly? By sailing through the rivers of Europe and visiting the Christmas markets at each port! 🌟
The tradition of the Christmas markets dates back centuries ago! Timber booths draped with evergreen boughs line the town squares and it is here that vendors and artists sell items such as toys, ornaments, cones of warm sugared almonds and steaming mugs of Glühwein (spiced mulled wine) to holiday shoppers, accompanied by traditional singing and dancing.
Many markets will offer a choice of red or white mulled wine and it seems that everyone has a strong opinion on which is better! I much prefer the white gluhwein made from a local reisling.

Videos and pictures could never fully convey the feelings and emotions that come over you while on an African safari! Feelings of being completely awestruck with the beauty of animals in their natural habitat, not to mention the sheer size and strength of some of them. You’ll find yourself admiring the vibrant colors of a sunset, sipping on a refreshing beverage, soaking in the sounds of nature and feel the sense of calm that being out in the bush brings, and think to yourself, “WOW. Why do you travel? ▫️To celebrate a milestone? ▫️To relax + rejuvenate? ▫️To learn more about the destination and the world we live in? Everyone has a reason for “why” they take the trip and next week, I will set out to take a trip that ticks all three of those boxes! South Africa has long been a destination at the top of my bucket list and thanks to my supplier partner Personal Africa, I will finally experience it for the first time! While I do hope for this trip to be rejuvenating and I would consider it a pre-celebration for a milestone birthday happening later this year, the number one reason for taking this trip is to LEARN! Food stalls + orange juice stands are set up, Amazigh (a.k.a. Berber) musicians strike up the music, henna tattoo artists attract passerby with their intricate designs, and locals + tourists alike flock to the market to participate in the entertainment!

It is also one of two mosques in Africa open to non-Muslims only by guided tours and is well worth the stop when visiting Casablanca!

Watching wild dolphins glide right past you, has to be one of the most incredible animal encounters a person can experience and one that I can’t wait to repeat! Be sure to stay as calm as possible while floating on the surface of the water, so you do not disturb these beautiful creatures as they swim along. It’s very likely that they are sleeping! Half of their brain is “asleep” while the other half stays alert letting them know to keep moving and when to surface for air. They’re also pretty curious by nature, so the more calm you are, the more curious they’re apt to be too 😉!
