A friend lamented that I haven’t posted enough lately. I’ll try and do better TC! So here’s Great Harbor on Jost Van D**e, taken from the cockpit. Anchorage only has a few boats right now, as it’s that magic “turnover time”. It’s Friday, so the charter fleet will arrive soon enough! But gonna stay put another day or two, and let the wind gusts subside, and enjoy the Beach BBQ at Foxy’s. Note: they really need rain on Jost…hillsides are turning brown.

So good to be out of the marina and back on the water. Boat projects are done, and now it’s time to watch the sunset (same sunset, several pics) and enjoy the moon and the stars (zoom in).…and eat well too! On another topic, it’s kinda cool to see your sailing vessel show up (with all the big dogs) on maritime traffic apps.

Enjoying some quality chill time these days. Just what we needed. Catching up on EVERYTHING, including a date night at Pirate’s Bight restaurant on Norman. 😘🤪👍🏻

A day with a bunch of first for us: winds from the west… in the BVI!?!?!? A first. And our first ever downwind sail from JVD to Norman Island…making 5-6 knots in a light breeze. Looking back, the Drake Lake is almost flat. So flat, I could enjoy a BLT at the helm, and nothing flew into the sea. All capped off by a nice sunset, bow to the west. So weird. Living on vacation in paradise. 👍🏻

She rolled in with the morning mist, which dissipated as quickly as it arrived. Stad Amsterdam graced us with her presence thru the evening. The next morning was a glorious one at Jost. The wind abated, allowing for a reflective pool of absolute beauty. (30 feet deep and you can see our tender’s shadow on the bottom!) In a weird twist, the wind started blowing out of the west!!!!….so we moved around to Little Jost, and enjoyed a spectacular moon rise over Tortola. It’s the only time I recall our cockpit facing east!

Shameless Brag: My incredibly talented Pirate Wife Kathy snagged a rotisserie chicken while provisioning yesterday at RiteWay, so naturally, we deboned it and made chicken piccata for dinner. YUM!!!! Today we’re at Jost Van D**e, and she’s tutoring the son of one of our many island friends. He was falling behind in math and mom was concerned. Kathy to the rescue. What a GEM!!!

First: FACEBOOK SUCKS! Conclusion…just enjoy paradise. Our Arkansas friends wrapped up a day on JVD with a toast to the legend himself, under a Razorback banner no less. The next morning we zipped over to Norman Island, passing by Kathy’s fave island house (east end of St John). There was snorkeling, and fun at the W***y T (no pics), and more snorkeling at the Indians. But all good things come to an end. Back in the marina for the final night allowed for one last group pic before dinner (and a photo bomb too…we LOVE our island friends). The next morning, we all hugged and waved goodbye, as they piled into CJ’s van for the 15 minute taxi ride to the ferry, bound for St Thomas. “It’s not goodbye, but till we see you again!” 🏝❤️

A day on Jost is unlike any other day in the BVI. There’s hiking and snorkeling no doubt. But the people of this island make it a truly special place. Oh, and what does one say about White Bay? Now that’s a question to ponder!

Another set of friends from Arkansas have escaped the cold and joined us on Quite the Catch for 8 days of sailing fun through the BVI. Epic fun repeated! We got to celebrate one couple’s 23rd wedding anniversary at Coco Maya.

And that’s a wrap! After a delicious Valentines dinner at Indigo Beach House (chech out that view), we were off to Jost Van D**e and a day in the sun on the beach at White Bay. The fun meter pegged-out again (and virtually no one stopped to take a pic!). we rounded out the cruise with a bit of snorkeling at Norman Island, and a final dinner on board., before bouncing back to the marina. The next day, we were all up EARLY for our friends to start a long travel day back to Arkansas. Adios friends…till we see you again.

From the Super Bowl, and a great win by the Chiefs, to a super day on Anegada! Walk down the beach to Tipsy’s? OF COURSE! Spectacular sunsets and sunrises? YES!! Lobsta dinner? YUMMMMMM! We had to say goodbye goodbye to Anegada the next morning, but had a great day of sailing (and sunning) on our way to CGB for delicious Valentine’s Dinner at Indigo Beach House, and yet another great sunset. Paradise!

More friends from the Natural State have joined us in paradise for a week of fun in the sun. So far, lots of snorkeling, good food, tasty beverages and sight seeing. Nice to be in the BVI with so many other American Patriots, watching the Super Bowl at Saba Rock. Cheers my friends!

Wrapping up another epic cruise: when the fun doesn’t end, it’s hard to find time to share the moments from Cane Garden Bay, Jost Van D**e and White Bay, Norman Island and Benures Bay. More in captions… till next time Mermaids!! Stay Salty!!

Our 501 Ladies “enjoyed” quite the experience sailing up to Anegada, beating into a howling NE wind…let’s just say it was SPORTY! But that is ok, arrival rewards like grilled lobster, fruit and petite vanilla scones from chef Kathy, and a fun day exploring the island make it all worth it. And those sunrises and sunsets…More fun, and more pics to come.

Friends from the 501 have arrived in the BVI, and brought a fresh to moderate breeze with them. Sadly, no one’s having a good time. 🤪 Cooper Island Beach Club sunsets rock. Fun sail up to the North Sound found us racing a power yacht. We didn’t win 🤣 but we won on the fun meter!

Don’t let that innocent smile fool you...she’s just taking a break during our two-day Farkle Tournament, where Kathy was a 1 seed, and me… like a 16 seed. She let me stay close, tied at the end of round 1. But like a thoroughbred, she ran away with it in round two. (probably all that fresh sunshine!) Let’s just say it was a historic BEAT DOWN! Here’s your trophy sweetie! 🏆🏆🏆 you deserve much more. My consolation prize was a nice sunset, and a great dinner.

To say we have thoroughly enjoyed our chill days would be an understatement. Winds from the south made the north side of Norman delightful. Overnight the winds shifted to brisk northerlies, so back around to the Bight. Chill mode continues.

It’s the dawn of another super-chill day in the Bight…enjoying the peace and solitude of the view from our “back deck” with a cup of coffee. Next thing you know, our boat swings around and new neighbors are moving in. May be time to move on… 🤣 🏴‍☠️⛵️.

Day 7: our last full day at sea…so what do you do? Snorkel…and feast! After a somewhat sporty sail from JVD to Norman, we went into chill mode (again). We snorkeled, Will spent some time on the W***y T, and then we grilled Ribeyes for dinner. After feeding ourselves, we fed the fish, which Kathy loved. The next morning, Day 8, we bounced back to Nanny Cay at noon. Will got to see what happens when we hit the marina: BOAT LIFE. And here come our guys to work on this and that. Sadly, Will has to head for the ferry at 6:45 am, to start his trip back to the frozen tundra.

Day 6: Another fun day on the beach at White Bay. Soggy Dollars drink charts are looking “well read”! Kathy gifted some blown glass to Wyndell (one of Foxy’s “kids”, and he promptly hung it right over the register. And later, it looks like one of us really had some fun. And of course, you can’t be on JVD on the weekend and not hit Foxy’s Big Barbecue! The food is great, and so was the company. I’m thinking it might be hard to get Will back on the boat!

Day 5: it was time to really slow down and Chill. So we did! Will started his morning with a massage at the floating spa (lower middle in aerial pic) in White Bay. Then we moved the boat around the corner to Great Harbour, and taxied back to White bay for lunch at Hendo’s. We followed that delicious lunch with an afternoon of sun, sand and beverages in front of Soggy Dollar. The scenery and people watching was top notch. On the taxi ride back to the boat, we stopped to see Carmen, the hot sauce lady, one of our fave people on JVD. Let’s just say that Will really enjoyed the hot sauce, and getting to know Carmen! We continued with chill mode by having a simple charcuterie dinner on the boat. What’s in store for day 6? Rinse and repeat!

Think I’ll get this made into a flag!!! 🤣👍🏻🏴‍☠️

Day 4: A less-than-pleasant two-day wind forecast caused us to abandon our planned sail from the North Sound to Anegada, so we opted for a much nicer downwind sail over Diamond Cay, which allowed Will to get some quality time at the helm. (His first sailing experience). Diamond Cay is the anchorage for the Bubbly Pool and Bee Line Beach Bar (and Foxy’s Taboo). Bunky wasn’t at his post at B Line, so his family was running the operation, and the Bubbly Pool wasn’t all that bubbly, but even on “off” days, this stop is still one of our faves. (Kathy got even more great rocks for tumbling from the pool.) It was a short motor around to Little Harbour and dinner with the legendary Cynthia at Harris’s. She does it all…and we mean ALL BY HERSELF. Guests are considered family, and are often asked to pitch in, so Will stepped up. It’s been 4 days and nights full of activities, but the next few days we’ll slow our roll and enjoy chillin’...except maybe Foxy’s full moon party on Jost! 😉

Day 3: late posting…but day three was full of fun…including a stop at Hog Heaven to enjoy the incredible view of the North Sound, then over the mountain top (stopped to take a pick of a squall) to the Copper Mine ruins, and then the Baths. Got to be so much fun I forgot to take picks at Coco Maya. Party foul! 🤣 next time!!

Day 2: Relatively calm seas and a nice breeze made for a great sail from Cooper up to the North Sound. Plenty of sun for Will too. After a bit of relaxing and game playing, we were of to Saba Rock for tarpon feeding/happy hour, followed by a delicious dinner! Then it was back to the boat by 8 pm and Kathy’s fave time of the day...Cigarrrr Aaarrrrrrr!

After a very long day of travel, made worse by a two-hour ferry delay from STT to the BVI, Will has arrived aboard Quite the Catch!!! Our first stop: Cooper Island Beach Club, which offers a great balance of water vs adult fun options. After a massive 2 hour snorkel expedition with Kathy the Mermaid, one needs to reset the day at the CIBC Rum Bar…and if you can (and we did)…make that last until dinner! Good first day. Really good!

That little dolphin family(mom, juvenile and calf) stuck around for half an hour…just chilling around our boat.
