Heads up for our Wilson Creek exploring friends!

*Due to rain, conditions are currently incompatible with controlled burning, and efforts will be delayed until further notice.*

The U.S. Forest Service is planning a 560 acre prescribed burn today, Monday January 22, on the Grandfather Ranger District in Avery County, near the Caldwell County line. The burn will reduce the risk of wildfires and improve forest health. This burn is planned for the Rockhouse Creek unit, located in the upper Wilson Creek area, 10 miles northwest of Collettsville, NC and 5 miles south of Grandfather Mountain State Park along Marks Mountain Road (FSRD 451).
