Todays storm. Thanks to Benjamin Williamson Photography for having the share opportunity on his page. If you want to go out in the bay on nicer days between Casco Bay and S**o Bay hit me up. I go out and scout for birds sometimes on Sundays.

Sea Monster -

I can't believe I got to see this today after yesterday's incredible sunrise in the mountains.

With the forecast for yet another powerful storm, I knew I couldn't miss the opportunity, so I decided to head down to Fort Williams Park, which I believe is the best place to see big surf. Since I had photographed Portland Head Light extensively in the huge storm a year ago, I chose to spend extra time today focusing on Ram Island Ledge Lighthouse, which sits offshore.

The big difference in this storm and others I've photographed in years past was the appearance of the sun just after the peak of high tide and the largest waves. The sunlight provided incredible contrast and some Turner-esque colors as it shone. The waves were getting a little bit smaller as the sun came out, but this monster came just in time. I loved seeing just the top of the lighthouse, which stands 72 feet from the base, as it was swallowed by the wall of water.

I have a lot to catch up on. Being a professional photographer is a balancing act between being out in the field, gathering photos (the fun part), and responding to emails, administrative tasks, prepping and planning, assembling prints, etc. (the not-so-fun part). I'm slightly out of balance at the moment!

December 23 I had the Arico father and son team. Once again they just wanted to try sea duck hunting. They were amazed how tough the birds are.

December 16 I had the father and son trio from up state NY. The Houser group came to try sea duck hunting. They had a great time. The young Houser tried and did connect.

Thanksgiving morning hunt with my son. Ethan got one and missed another. I got two. Was surprised to see Green Wing teal this late.

Today was a Youth hunt I donate. The weather was a little on the windy side today. But John did his best. His father Tony also tried. We chased a few cripples with no luck. Wind and white caps made it difficult. John was able to put the two nice Drake Eiders in the boat. Lost a nice White wing.

Today started the season for me. It started out great weather and birds cooperated. Damion did some nice shooting. Drake did what he loves to do.

Well that’s a wrap to the season. Drake and I like to thank all the clients that came up this years. Thanks to the ones that couldn’t make it but booked trips for next year. Let’s hope that the weather well corporate better next year.
Will try and get more fishing pictures up this year.
