**Chelan County Sheriff's Office Media Release**
Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison reports that Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel’s, a courageous 13-year-old battling brain cancer, has always dreamed of becoming a police officer. Despite the challenges he faces, DJ’s spirit and dedication to law enforcement have touched hearts across the nation. In recent months, he was honored by President Trump as an honorary Secret Service agent and has been sworn in as an honorary law enforcement officer by over 900 police departments nationwide.
His inspiring journey continues with a special ceremony set to take place April 15th, 2025, in St. Louis, where DJ’s father has coordinated with agencies across the country to participate either in person or symbolically. A universal oath of office was created for agencies to customize with their own name and logo, and participating departments were encouraged to return their completed oath forms to the host agency ahead of the ceremony.
On the day of the event, DJ will recite the combined oath of office submitted by all participating departments, in an attempt to break the record of being sworn in by 68 agencies during a simple ceremony. Each participating agency’s name will be read aloud, and DJ will personally sign each customized oath, making the moment even more meaningful. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office proudly accepted this challenge and is honored to be among the 140 department’s currently involved in a heartfelt tribute, which will be broadcast on Facebook Live at: Berkeley MO Police Department
This opportunity was brought to our agency’s attention thanks to the initiative of Deputy Amber Dupleich, who discovered DJ’s story and advocated for our office’s participation. We are grateful to be part of DJ’s incredible journey and to stand beside him and his family as he fulfills his dream.
