American Airlines 787-9 biz class
Real quick before take off. The 787-9 is much better than the 787-8 on American but still pales compared to any of the suite configuration planes. Still very little storage much roomier . #annsworldtravels
Today we went to Mercat de l’Olivar.
We got there too late to see the fish, the restaurants and locals must buy them all up early, but the produce and meat stalls were great. We saw all kinds of sausages which unfortunately we can’t bring home, and many Iberian hams which are similar to Italian Prosciutto. There are different grades of legs which I believe has to do with aging and fat content but I could be wrong.
There was a whole suckling pig that I guess one would need a big oven or smoker for.
We then came upon a stall that had Jay all excited.
If you have followed me in the past you know my husband is a very adventurous eater and the odder the cuisine the more excited he gets.
It made me a bit sick to my stomach to be honest.
Thankfully we don’t have a kitchen here so we couldn’t buy any of it as he was jumping out of his skin to try some of the stuff he hadn’t yet.
I recognized the beef cheeks and the tongue as well as the tripe.
I had never seen calves leg in a market before or brains for sale.
There were some rabbits and what looked like a cow face to me.
I did recognize liver and I believe heart too.
In parts of Sicily spleen and lung are very common to eat in sandwiches.
I think it’s great when cultures don’t waste animals, if you are going to kill it use all of it.
However, I don’t think I will ever have my husband’s enthusiasm for trying things. A filet mignon is about as exotic as I get.

Adventures in Tapas
Tonight’s adventure into tapas took place at the “Wine and Food Restaurante”. It was fantastic! Our waiter was delightful, the nicest guy from Cuba we enjoyed chatting with about our travels to the island. He cooked for us tableside with a blowtorch “Japanese tacos” which were made from veal and peppers and seasoned perfectly. We then split a seafood paella.Everything was excellent. This is a place you need to make a reservation for but you can do it right on line. #annsworldtravels#tapasadventures#wineandfoodresturante#mallorca
Walking uphill in 86 degrees but I can still film lol. Hopefully I can film in the restaurant.

Palma cathedral
Gaudi’s towering achievement, La Seu, the cathedral of Palma is nothing short of breathtaking. It stands in the site of a former mosque next to the palace. At night it is illuminated and is simply spectacular! #annsworldtravels#laseu#palmacathedral
I have a lot of respect for street performers.
I think it is a hard job that most people don’t give them credit for their craft. Instead they are viewed as scammers instead of artists.
I always give them a tip, they are performing and give me a smile.
Some, like this man leave me pondering how they are pulling off their illusion. I figured it out, do you know how he was able to magically suspend himself in the air? It was around 90 degrees today, I hope he had some type of cooling system in his costume!
One word of advice, when watching street artists make sure your valuables are secure, wallets in front pocket and backpacks in front. Pick pockets like to take advantage of you being distracted. #annsworldtravels

Banos Arabs or the Arab Baths are a tucked away haven not far from the cathedral. I don’t know that a lot of people are aware of this which is a shame. You should definitely visit if you are in the city as it gives you a look into another culture and oodles of history!
The hammam dates back to the time when the Moors ruled in Mallorca, 902-1231 and was a place for Arab noblemen to relax.
There are several oculus in the dome to allow in light, originally 25 were constructed but most are still covered.
It is interesting if you look closely at the Byzantine pillars you will notice than none match. That is because the conquering Muslims repurposed the pillars from other buildings to create their structures.
The original bath house had radiant heat floors, and a cold room.
The gardens are lovely with tropical plants, a nice little oasis within the city. The entry fee is €3.50 per person. Well worth it to step back in time.

I always travel with a roll of painters tape. It is great for emergency mending, dealing with tv control lights that won’t turn off or in this case a night light in the bathroom that cast a blue light into the bedroom driving us crazy. #annsworldtravels#beprepared#traveltips#painterstape

In Latvia we visited two castle ruins and a grotto. The “Bishop’s castle” in Turaida impressed me the most as it has the tower still intact. In this short clip you can see the bishops castle from the distance which is an impressive site with the tower peaking out of the forest.
On the castle grounds there is an Evangelical Lutheran church. The simple wooden building dates back to the 18th century and is still used today.
There is a sad love story associated with the castle that dates back to the 17th century.
There was an orphan named Maija who was taken in by the clerk of the castle. She fell in love with the gardener (Viktor) at neighboring Sigulda Castle. However, before their love could bloom, a deserter from the Polish army, dastardly Adam decided he would make Maija his own. Rather than succumb to him she decided to trick him into taking her life.
She told Adam she possessed a magical scarf that could protect the wearer from injury. She told him she would prove it and wrapped the scarf around her neck and told him to give it a wack. She instantly died with her honor intact.

The Atlas Bar on the Azamara Onward is one of my favorite spots.
They make really unusual craft cocktails from infused liquors.
I love watching them “smoke” the drinks even though I wouldn’t personally drink one. When I see them do one I will film it as it is really neat to watch. The bar has “virtual bands” of various genres that play in the glass mirrored walls. They are very lifelike.
The bartender is going to start tonight infusing blueberries into Grey Goose for me to hopefully be able to make my blueberry limoncello martini in a few days. They are craft bartenders here, true artisans.
For me to upgrade my premium beverage package to the ultimate which covers everything including the craft martinis and smoked drinks in tha Atlas bar cost me just $8 a day.
