Julie is our marketing manager, often working behind the scenes and behind the camera 🤭 She enjoys spending time with the people she loves (her favorite being her hubby…peep the 4th photo!) and if that means catching up over a cup of coffee or running together, that’s just a bonus! We spotted these oysters during our photoshoot at the Greystone Manor. The moment felt almost idyllic—standing by the water, it was like stepping back in time. We could picture young Katie back on the Chesapeake Bay spending long Summer days with her family, where the heart of Bees Nees first began to take shape.

As we were working on staging a home this week, Katie said she just wanted it to feel like a “warm hug” to anyone that walk through its doors. This is at the core of her designs! She has this way of masterful combining sophistication and whimsy with a warm welcome woven into each room… where every person can feel at home.

I like to think of property development as an art. If I were a painter, I would imagine it would be very similar to painting a canvas. Many thoughtful layers that go into the creative process.

When I choose a property to work on, I must be immediately drawn by the house upon first entry. The house must sing to me. I like to think of it as having not seen a very old friend for a long time and coming back together and that warm and comforting feeling that completely consumes you.

The process of bringing a property back to life is complex yet very fulfilling. The thought that goes into the parts that will be preserved, the character that will be revived and the new life that will be added to make it whole. It’s a great, big, wonderful puzzle that is taken apart, and then reassembled with tender loving care. Xx Katie

We had the special treat of walking around the grounds of Ellis’ historic cottage by the Oceanfront. Its charm and character is just a breath of fresh air! We are thrilled when we see such precious pockets of our city preserved & cherished🤍

The Bees Nees focus of this house is primarily the construction side & we always aim for an efficient process that produces a high quality, lasting home.
