❗️TRAVEL ALERT | ROAD OPEN - Eastbound I-70 near East Vail❗️

⚠️UPDATE - 2:15 p.m. (1/14/25) - Eastbound I-70 near East Vail is open.

On Tuesday, Jan. 14, eastbound I-70 will be closed at East Vail/Exit 180 as crews remove commercial motor vehicle wreckage starting at 9 a.m. when traffic volume is typically the lowest. The full closure and recovery operations are expected to last at least six hours.

Detour: Travelers should use exit 171 and travel east on US 24 to Leadville, then take CO 91 north to rejoin eastbound I-70 at Copper Mountain. Motorists should be prepared to add an additional 90 minutes to their travel time.

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, around 8 p.m., CDOT, the Colorado State Patrol and local fire and emergency medical services teams responded to a crash. Fuel leaking from a diesel tank required hazmat cleanup, preventing vehicle recovery at the time.
