Vacation, day eight, nine, & ten:

We finished our cruise with our last port of call: Victoria (British Columbia, Canada). We ventured out into the town and soaked in all the gorgeous scenery the city had to offer.

And just like that, our trip of a lifetime has come to an end. I cannot stress this enough: no amount of pictures or videos will ever capture the beauty of Alaska. It is truly something you have to see with your own two eyes.

We made some incredible memories this trip, including my parents joining us- memories I hope our boys have that last them a whole lifetime.

Vacation, day seven:

We started the morning off super early, at 5am, so we could see us going through Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier. After about 2 hours of breathtaking views, it was time to head to Juneau.

First stop was at Tracy's King Crab Shack, where we devoured 2lbs of Alaskan red king crabs. Next stop was Mendenhall Glacier for its stunning views.

And as if we hadn’t already packed in such much in one day, the guys went Salmon this evening.

Vacation, day six:
📍Skagway, Alaska

When they say “pictures don’t do this justice”, I’m pretty sure they were on an Alaskan cruise when that term came about. No amount of pictures or videos could ever capture so much beauty.

I checked off another Alaskan bucket list item today: ride the White Pass and Yukon Railway ✔️

I’ll just let all the pictures do the talking because I have no words for the sights we saw today

Vacation, day five:
📍Sitka, Alaska

Today was our first stop along our Alaskan adventure. We got off the ship and took a 10 minute bus ride to downtown Sitka, where we hiked through Sitka National Historical Park.

We saw SOOO many salmon during our hike, which means I was officially able to check something off my Alaskan bucket list: see salmon ✔️. We also went to the Raptor Center and got to see many different birds including Bald Eagles and a Snowy Owl.

Once we got back to the ship, Brent and Adam rode the flow rider, and then Brent and Zayne did the I-fly experience.

Still can’t get used to this 9:30 sunset and sweater weather in August 😆

Vacation, day three & four:

🚢Embarkation day!!

Yesterday we set sail aboard Royal Caribbeans Ovation of the Seas. We spent majority of the day getting familiar with the ship and all the fun things it had to offer- rock climbing, bumper cars, and the pools, just to name a few.

Some things that are super weird to get used to- the sun setting at 9:20, being 4 hours behind EST, and being bundled up in mid-August. You can tell we’re getting closer to Alaska!

T-minus 11 hours until we get to explore Sitka

Vacation, day two:

We started the morning off with a quick walk to Irwin's Neighborhood Bakery and Cafe- a local bakery (10/10). After breakfast we headed to Snoqualmie falls, to see a 268 foot water fall, and do some hiking- GORGEOUS views!

Then, as a huge OG Grey’s Anatomy fan, I had to check a few things off my Seattle bucket list:

•Ride a ferry boat (ya know, since Derek Sheppard had a thing for them) ✔️
•Visit the filming location for the original Seattle Grace Hospital, for seasons 1-3 ✔️
•Stopped by Meredith Grey’s house ✔️

And we also squeezed in a trip to the Space Needle and Alki Beach. A very productive, scenic day!

Tomorrow is Cruise embarkation day!! 🚢🤩

Vacarion day one:
📍Seattle, Washington

Goodness we are TIRED! We had a 7am flight this morning at BWI, so we had to wake up at 2:30am. We got into Seattle around 1:30EST, but due to the time difference, it was 11:30am here.

We wasted zero time, and made our way down to Pike Place Market. We saw the famous fish market, the gum wall alley, the very first Starbucks, and the beautiful views of the Seattle waterfront.

Can’t wait to see where day 2 in this gorgeous state takes us!

🚢What is a fish extender, and what is pixie dust?🚢

A fish extender (FE) is a type of hanging bag with pockets placed outside your cruise cabin in the hallway. The term Fish Extender comes from a metal fish mounted on the wall, right outside of the door (this is Disney Cruise Line specific, but you will see variations of this on other cruise lines as well).

A fish extender exchange is a grouping of individuals who want to exchange gifts with other cabins. You buy a cabin gift for the family, or you can buy individual gifts for everyone in the cabin, or both depending on the expectations within your group. This is organized in your sailings private Facebook group, which is not affiliated by Disney Cruise Line.

You can buy fish extenders off of Etsy, Amazon, or even DIY your own.

Pixie Dusting is (usually) an uncoordinated, random gift giving, where people just place small gifts, or even magnets in other people’s fish extenders. In those same private Facebook groups, you might see a list for pixie dusting, where people will put their room number and ages of people in their cabins, just to get a better idea of what a pixie dusted item could be.

🚨BREAKING DISNEY NEWS🚨

Beginning July 24th, Disney World’s Disney Genie+ service will become Lightning Lane Multi Pass, while individual Lightning Lane will now be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass.

You will also be able to book experiences ahead of your trip, similar to the old FastPass system!!

✨Lightning Lane Multi Pass:
After purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you may make up to 3 Lightning Lane selections in a theme park, in advance of your visit.

✨Lightning Lane Single Pass:
Lightning Lane Single Pass will work much like it does today, where guests can secure a time to ride one of the most highly demanded attractions, but you will now be able to pay for and make a reservation ahead of your trip.

✨How to Plan Ahead:
Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel will be able to plan Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance, for their entire stay (up to 14 days). All other guests can plan up to 3 days in advance.

Guests may purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, a Lightning Lane Single Pass or both. The app will also be updated to make it quicker and easier to purchase and plan, with fewer steps and a new option to purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass and Lightning Lane Multi Pass in one transaction.

Today was check-in day for my Alaskan cruise (so exciting!! 🥳)

So, do you HAVE to check-in for a cruise ahead of time?
•No, but checking-in ahead of time speeds things up tremendously when you’re at the pier. Not to mention, if you look down below you will see what is referred to as a “port arrival time”. The sooner you complete your online check-in, the better the odds you have of getting on the ship earlier. Since I “checked-in” as soon as the clock struck 12(PST), I was able to get a 10:30 arrival time.

Once you’ve completed your online check-in, you can then view your set sail pass, which is what you’ll scan at the pier, making things a breeze.

Over the weekend, my boys watched Honey I Shrunk the Kids (such a classic) 🐜

A little fun fact: There used to be a Honey I Shrunk The Kids play set adventure, located inside of Hollywood Studios. It permenatley closed in 2016 to make room for Galaxy’s Edge, and Toy Story Land. Can you spy a little baby Adam inside the grass? 😅
