Shephard's Dog Training Shephard's Dog Training Obedience and Behavior Modification using only positive training methods, Operant Conditioning. Remember, you are hiring us!

Your dog will LOVE my training, and you will be impressed with how quickly your dog can learn. All breeds, mixes, and ages are welcome- and most certainly capable! I am a strong advocate for positive training versus dominance-based training. I use a positive training method called "Operant Conditioning". This training method allows your dog to enjoy training, to trust you, and to truly build on yo

ur bond with your dog. I believe the bond between you and your dog is of utmost importance- if your dog trusts you, the possibilities of training are endless. I offer both private and group training sessions. Dogs learn more efficiently when they start their training in the comfort of their home- with no other distractions. After you have completed basic training inside your home, then you are welcome to advance your training outside the home, adding the distractions of other dogs and people. I offer group socialization classes at a pet store where the dogs can practice their basic commands, leash walking in a group, and socialize with each other. This is an excellent method of training, your dog will learn much more effectively than just jumping into a group class, and you will find it much more enjoyable, as well. My training is very affordable- please feel free to call around to compare prices, you will find even doing private training with me AND socialization classes will usually cost you less than others. With my training, you will be a part of it. I will train your dog right in front of you, and then have you try it after. You and your family have to be able to repeat what your trainer has taught your dog. Please do not hire a trainer that takes your dog from you for a period of time- you do not know what they are doing to/with your dog. And please stay away from trainers who require choke chains or prong collars before you even get started- for your dog's sake! If you hire a trainer and it doesn't feel right, you can end the training! It is your dog, and you have to be comfortable and happy with the training methods. I also offer a variety of activities for the dogs and owners to participate in. I believe in giving a dog a job, task, or activity to do. Different classes/activities include: Group Socialization, Agility, Search and Rescue Training, and Trail Walks. I can train your dog to do therapy work, and then you move on to test and certify for therapy work. Basic obedience training, as well as behavioral issues are welcome. Some common behavioral issues include excessive barking, jumping on guests (and you!), stealing food off counters, separation anxiety, cat chasing, chewing, house training, leash pulling, and many others- including aggression. Behavior evaluations are also available for free- this gives you the opportunity to meet with me before making a decision, as well as gives me the opportunity to meet your dog, and get a better understanding of his personality and what might be expected as far as length of training. There is a limit to driving distance, so please give a call or email to be sure. If you are looking to adopt/rescue a dog, I also offer FREE evaluations to help you find a dog that is a great match for you and your family/lifestyle. There are so many homeless dogs, especially with the economy. Even if you would like a purebred puppy, please do some research- you may even be able to adopt a purebred puppy who needs a home. Or perhaps you want a sweet dog who is good with kids, but is a tad older so you don't have to worry about house training and chewing- trust me, you can find one in a shelter! It is always worth looking! Please visit petfinder.com, you can search by area, age, breed, size, and more. You may be very surprised. Please give me a call, or send an email to set up a training session, or evaluation. I look forward to meeting you and your dog(s)!

NY friends ❤️Any Boxer lovers want to help spoil her?

FOSTER NEEDED: The backstory is a little murky on this one but regardless this senior girl needs a new place to go. She's reported to be in her early teens and good with other dogs and kids (cats unknown) and needs to be out of her situation ASAP. Can anyone help her out if I make her part of the Love to Give Seniors Program? The rescue pays all of the medical - you just need to provide the love........

Saw this poor pup 😞He’s in NY.

Please read before you apply as Sam is a special kind of guy, needing a special kind of home. This is a courtesy post for a local community member.

Sam was 6 months old when he entered his adoptive home. At just 6 months old this boy had already endured quite a traumatic life. Riddled with BB pellets it was evident that humans had purposely tried to hurt Sam over and over again. Needless to say he was skeptical and quite fearful of humans from that point on.

Unfortunately even after he was adopted Sam’s fear escalated and what was left of his confidence quickly faded over the next 3 years of his life due to the lack of proper socialization. At this point Sam has acted out on his stranger danger issue and nipped at 3 people making him a pup with a bite history. No local agencies will even consider taking him in, so his current owners are going to have to euthanize him due to their own health related issues and not being able to place Sam.

This boy needs a home that has experience with fearful pups. He very much has the potential to overcome these issues with the correct guidance, a boost of confidence, and a family that has patience the patience and ability to work with a fearful pup. Sam is a 65lb lab mix. His owner said he gets along with other pups, unsure of cats, and no kids due to his current skittish reactive behavior. He is a loyal and loving guy once he warms up to you, but know that there is a very good chance that will not be instantaneous. If you can help Sam out email [email protected] today. If you can not give Sam a place to stay, click the share button and send his story on its way!

Frank is in NY :(

Frank is in NY :(

“May your past be the sound of your feet upon the ground.”

Frank crossed the wrong humans at the wrong time, and as a consequence he was doused with hot grease. His original pictures were much too graphic to show, so this is Frank 3 weeks post treatment. While the burns will heal and close fully, the scars will remain throughout his body for a lifetime. Animal cruelty in general remains a problem throughout our country, however it always seems that the bully breeds such as Frank are the biggest target to be bullied.

Despite his past, Frank will put his feet on the ground and carry on. Like most canines he is forgiving and just happy to be living. Frank is a very happy social guy that would loves to sit on your lap and kiss you until the end of time. He likes to engage with other pups and is starting to figure out how to live life outside the shelter. Frank is now looking for a foster family to host him through his heartworm treatment, which will be a 2-3 month commitment. This is the only thing holding Frank back from pursuing his dream of being a forever pup. If you can help Frank out email [email protected] today.

Brooklyn. 😪

Gone but forever in our hearts.

Zeus Wayne has been given EUTH COMMAND!

Some days it seems like no matter how wonderful a dog is, no matter how hard we advocate for them, the shelter makes it so they are doomed from the moment they step in the door! Zeus Wayne was adopted and then returned two weeks later. We all know returns immediately have a “black mark” hanging over their head. This is very much the case for this good boy.

He is still a puppy at only 17 months old. He is very sweet, social, with the cutest smile and wiggly body. He is a playful, active boy, and he needs appropriate exercise and training. He didn’t receive the training or enough of an outlet for his playful energy in his every in home, of all of “two weeks.” Now, by no fault of his own, he had been given a very much undeserved death sentence!

He thought, finally I have a family to love me forever. Imagine, Zeus Wayne’s heartbreak when only two weeks later he landed back in the shelter! He wasn’t given time to decompress, but since they “said he was guarding food” they had the police take him out of their home. He didn’t bite anyone, he didn’t growl.” They even said only wonderful things about him, that “Zeus Wayne is active, sweet, affectionate, and loves walks.” Clearly they failed him and, Zeus Wayne will pay the price.

He is sweet, loving and a dear young boy. He wasn’t taught leash manners, cues, or given enough exercise. These aren’t Zeus Wayne’s fault and he shouldn’t be punished in the worst possible way possible. His life should not come to an end!

Don’t let this happen to Zeus Wayne! Be his person or his family! Save him before it’s too late!
