I've been dragging my feet on sharing some news. I put in my notice at LBAC Travel. I'm in a different place than I was nearly 4 years ago when I accepted the position and it's time to move on in a different direction.

I have loved my time at LBAC Travel and helping you all plan your dream vacations. I love and appreciate all of you who have followed along and booked trips with me. I can't thank you enough.

The main reason I'm sharing this news is because Disney will be opening up bookings for 2024 on May 31st. The sooner you book the best chance you have for best pricing/availability. I have had several friends/clients express interest in booking for 2024 and if you're still hoping to visit Disney in the coming year, I can refer you to one of my coworkers. I have already reached out to my friend and personal travel planner at LBAC and let her know our requirements for a trip in 2024!

Yesterday was my birthday. At dinner my husband asked us all what our favorite memory was for the last year of my life. After some thought, I said it was the moment at Disneyland when Owen realized his cousins were there too. It was such a big surprise. For Justin, it was visiting the Sled Dog camp in Alaska. And for Owen it was baking cookies with mommy.

Out of 52 weeks in this past year we vacationed two weeks, yet 2/3 of our favorite memories in the past year we’re on our family vacations.

I’m so thankful for the opportunity to spend the time creating treasured memories together.

Friday was our last day of vacation and this morning we’re on our way home!

We made sure to fill our last day with fun.

My Mom and Craig drove up from Arizona for lunch (they had to get on the road at 5 am 😮).

Next was a quick Uber ride to see the Klasky Csupo building. Klasky Csupo/Robosplaat has been Owen’s favorite logo for years and he was thrilled. Our Uber driver was the first person EVER to know what we were talking about when we told him where we were going. He talked about animation studios and recommended some anime for Owen to check out. He was a highlight in our day.

After Klasky Csupo we hopped a Big Bus Celebrity Tour. It was nice to sit and have a relaxing couple of hours after the whirlwind of visiting parks for days. I particularly enjoyed being up in Beverly Hills during sunset.

After the bus tour we enjoyed comically huge slices of NY style pizza. We hunted for a place to sit and found an alcove just inside of the Dolby theater. It was just inside with airflow, by the Christmas tree. Outside, there was a woman singing Christmas songs. We had dinner and entertainment and it was one of the most magical moments of our trip.

We strolled to The Chinese Theater and I saw the sidewalk where Deborah Kerr and Yule Brenner signed for The King and I. This movie is special because it’s one my grandma shared with me as a kid. It felt like a special moment with her.

It’s important to plan. But it’s also important to allow some space for unexpected magic to happen.

Having a blast at Universal Studios!

This is our first time at a Universal Studios Park as a family. Therefore it was our first time using the Attraction Assistance Pass. I was nervous that our experience wouldn’t compare to Disneyland/California Adventure. I’m so happy to report that I had nothing to worry about!

When traveling with disabilities, it can feel overwhelming to go to a new place. You never quite know how you or your loved one will be treated. Universal Studios will now be on my list of places I can confidently recommend to fellow travelers.

Disneyland Day 3.

Once again I crashed last night before posting.

Biggest takeaway…. If you need accommodations, ask. They already do a great job but if you need something extra, they may surprise you.

On the Nemo Submarine ride, if you can’t descend steps, there is a room off to the side where you can watch the whole show without boarding the sub.

On Its a Small World there are boats that can accommodate a wheelchair without transferring. Owen was so tired and I thought we’d need to skip Small World entirely but he felt like a king sitting up there!

Waiting for them to light up the Small World facade is so worth it!

One of the best parts of traveling with Owen is that just about the time I feel like I can’t possibly keep walking, he’s ready for a break and we go back for a rest.

It’s absolutely amazing to walk right out of California Adventure right into our hotel. This morning from the time we left our room to walking into the park was approx. 5 minutes.

I can’t say enough how much I’m enjoying staying at The Grand Californian.

Last month I did a drawing challenge to draw every day from prompts. I revisited a 14 day journaling class on Skillshare that I did a couple years ago and then jumped into part 2 with the same instructor after I finished that.

My favorite prompt was the three days in a row with Past, Present, Future. You could interpret the prompt however you wanted but I couldn’t think of anything better than reflecting on the times we traveled as a family and our future vacation dreams.

Owen was just 4 months old when we took our first family vacation to Cape May. He was just over 1 when he flew for the first time to the Chromosome 18 Conference. He’s a born explorer.

Our next vacation (Present) will be heading to California. It’ll be our first trip to Disneyland and Universal Hollywood! I can’t to visit Warner Brothers Studios because he is fascinated with all things movie making.

We have big plans for our future vacations. Owen has been asking to go to Japan for years. He’s recently added Sweden to the list. 😂. Greece and Christmas Markets are for me.
