IT IS OFFICIAL
LOSI MINI B OVAL SPRINT
Is now an official class for the 2025 Ground Pounder race season.

2025 RACE SEASON IS STARTING SOON!!

Our 2025 Ground Pounder RC race season is coming up soon. We are posting the "tentative" schedule. Note that this schedule may change over the next few weeks, but at this point we feel pretty confident to share and fairly certain about the dates.

We will be updating rules for classes as well as any new classes very soon (that is in the works now). Updates will appear on our website www.TheGroundPounders.com. We will make announcements when they are updated and final. Look for that soon.

Race fees will remain the same
1st class $25
2nd class $10
3rd class $5

Our first "warm up" race is scheduled for Sunday March 2nd. This first race is a no points race, meaning it does not count towards your race season. We won't list results on our FB page, or note winners, etc...It is really meant to come shake off the rust, get your cars dialed in and get ready for the upcoming season. We encourage everyone to come out to this race as it really does help you get prepared for our track conditions. If your new to RC racing this would be the perfect 1st race for you as well.

Stay tuned as we'll be posting more information about the upcoming year in the coming weeks.

We will continue racing oval and on-road classes this coming season. We are also going to continue to race at Peterson Cat in Santa Rosa, CA for most of the season. We will most likely switch locations towards the end of the season (but will provide more details on that as we iron that out).

Feel free to message us with questions.
We look forward to racing with all of you in 2025!!!!

Photos from our 2024 awards/end of year banquet.
We are going to start working on the 2025 race calendar, updated classes and rules, as well as a few other cool additions to the next season. We typically have a warm up race in March, so that will most likely be around when our first 2025 race is. More details to come!

Where can you race now that the Ground Pounders 2024 race season is done?

Fortunately there are plenty of options. Many of the regular GP'er racers continue to race during the off season as there are plenty of options. Racing year round is a great way to improve your skills, meet new people and experience new tracks.

Here are a few options to check out:

Hardline Drift
This is an indoor drift track you can check their hours here on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/375757507749289

707 Raceway and Hobby
Indoor on-road and oval racing. A lot of racers from Ground Pounders race here on the weekends. 707 has indoor racing and onsite hobby shop, they race pretty much every weekend.
Check them out! https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057667440360

Delta RC - Oval
Hard dirt oval track, many of our GP'er oval racers continue to race at "Delta" throughout the year. Delta Oval has many ongoing race series. Check it out: https://www.facebook.com/DeltaRC

NorCal Hobbies
For both outdoor and indoor racing check out San Jose's NorCal Hobbies, they have a huge on site hobby shop, indoor offroad carpet track and host many outdoor asphalt races. https://www.facebook.com/NorCalHobbiesCA

Heading to Sacramento? There is really nice facility with both indoor on-road and indoor off-road tracks. Racer's Den hosts many races and series, they race most weekends as well. This is worth a trip! https://www.facebook.com/groups/431888509509126

There are many more options if your willing to travel a little further outside the Bay Area. In the meantime GP'ers are working on the 2024 Year End Banquet details (post to come soon), as well as 2025 race schedule, rules, and some other exciting things we have in the works. See you at the track!

31/10/2024

Last Sunday 10/27 was to be our last GP'er race of the 2024 race season. However due to heavy drizzle and a very wet track we were forced to cancel the race event. After much discussion we have decided to not do a make-up race date. We have more rain expected this coming weekend and have a few club members needed to help out who are not able to make it the following weekend. 707 Raceway in Ukiah is holding a race 1 Sunday a month and is starting on Sunday 11/17. We did not want to race on the same day as 707 raceway and hobby. After that we head into Thanksgiving and then December. It starts to get really iffy with weather and complicated with people taking time off for the holidays. This leaves us with a total of 6 races we raced this season. We have decided that we will allow your best 4 race performances (as opposed to your best 5). If you did race 5 or even 6 races it only helps you as we count your top 4 performances (so you can throw out 1 or 2 races depending on how many you participated in). This allows many more racers to stay in the competition for a year end award (we provide awards to top 3 finishers in each official race class we hosted).

THANK YOU!
Our club would like to first and foremost thank all of you who showed up to race this season. We would not have a club if it were not for passionate racers like you who showed up on our Sunday race days. Thank you.
Thank you also to everyone who helped setup the track, put everything away at the end of the day and kept their pit area clean. Also Peterson Cat for so graciously allowing us the use of their parking lot area, we love this space for many reasons. Thank you also to our entire club board, those who announce races, run our program, spend time going through results and posting to LiveRC, and those who donated their time, money and goods to our track. The Senn's for donating tarps to cover our trailer when not in use, Rob Burn for storing the trailer and bringing it out every race day. Matt Senn for announcing, creating the track layouts (even the ones w/ bus stops), keeping our program running on time, updating our rules, and so much more. Dave Ivey!! -thank you for all your help, the track space, electricity to power our batteries on race day. Amy Wildt, our awesome treasurer who comes out each race day, tallies up all the money, makes sure bills get paid and that we are not spending too much. Shermon Wong!! -our awesome El Presidente. Shermon overseas everything. Without Shermon we'd have no sauce for the track, no final decisions on things like calling the season and making sure all the board members attend our meetings and keeping to our schedule. Running a program like the Ground Pounders takes a lot of work, but it never feels like work when you enjoy what you do, right! We plan to run this program for many more years and with your help and support that will continue to be possible. so THANK YOU!

We do have some cool new things planned for the '25 race season (yes we've already been discussing it). We'll share more in the coming months and as we get closer to the '25 race season.
--
After we review and tally the final points we will be messaging those who finished in the top 3 in an event. We will probably do this sometime in later November. We also plan to have a year end party, everyone who participated in our club events is welcome to come. We typically provide the food and drinks, -many details on that as well. The date will probably be sometime in January of 2025 after the holiday season. We'll have a date pinned down in the coming weeks and will post it here.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our club. Peterson Cat for allowing us to use their facility for racing every month. All the GP'er club members who help run the program, bring the equipment and track supplies. Also to Amy our club Treasurer who although she does not race she comes out to each event. THANK YOU!

In addition we'd like to say a special thank you to Kevin Paulson and John Masterson who both stayed for an extra hour after the race was completed to help tear down the track and put all the equipment away. We truly appreciate your help, -having guys like you at our club events really helps us all out. THANK YOU.

Also Thank You to all the Jake's Performance Hobbies and 707 Raceway and Hobby crews that come out every club race. We appreciate seeing you at the track, helping out and bringing the competition!

Featured race was "Vintage Trans Am". This might be our most popular race class. I believe we have had a VTA A and B main every club race, even though it was 100+ degrees out we still had a full lineup of 13 competitors. Congratulations to everyone who made it to the A Main. Couple things to mention, Kevin Paulson did a great job bumping from the B main to the A and finishing 6th overall in the A main. Great job moving up w/ the fassst guys. Justin Senn also made the bump to the A and finished just above Kevin in the 5th spot. Hunter Stuart, he's always there ...Hunter is has become one of the top VTA drivers at our club, he easily makes it in the A and is always right around the top 3 finishers. He started 3rd in the main but due to traffic and a little luck not going his way finished 4th. Still a great performance, we have no doubt he'll be a top contender next season. Art Knight ran away, started 1st and finished 1st ..he bobbed and weaved his way through traffic and had a great run. Nice job Art. The battle was for the #2 spot. Early in the race Hunter passed Eric (who started 2nd), as did Donnie. There was a battle between Donnie and Hunter for the 2 spot, meanwhile Eric found his groove and caught back up to the Donnie / Hunter battle. If memory serves me correctly Donnie and Hunter got into it a bit, allowing Eric to fly by both of them. Eric held the 2 spot for most of the race with Donnie only inches behind him. As Eric navigated through traffic Donnie followed right behind in the path that was created. Last lap and Donnie made a move, got on the inside of Eric but was only about an inch or two too late and was caught. Really good battle between Eric and Donnie.

Our next race will also be our last club race for the 2024 race season, that will be on Sunday 10/27. We will be making an official post about it probably later this week or very early next week. Be sure to check our FB page for updates!

See you at the next race!
