Our friend/photographer Ron is currently aboard for his 16th week of cruising with us on Discovery . After all these years he’s surprised to see that he hasn’t yet been everywhere. He was able to visit 3 new bays these last two weeks ⚓️⚓️

A beautiful sunny week cruising Sitka to Juneau. Unfortunately we lost our drone on day three. However, drone or no drone it’s hard to capture the beauty and wildlife we get to see daily! Unique wildlife opportunities were around every corner this week.

Some things are worth interrupting dinner for. This cool sighting of a Spirit Bear catching and eating his was one of those. This was the perfect way to end a beautiful day of cruising the inside passage.

The Sea otter is a marine mammal native to the coasts of the northern and eastern North pacific oceans. Adults typically weigh between 30 and 100 lb, making them the largest members of the weasel family. Although they can walk on land, the sea otter is capable of living exclusively in the ocean. This photo was captured inside Jackson pass narrows. British Columbia.

After a couple months of winter projects and improvements we switched gears to hours and hours of refinishing paint and varnish to get discovery looking sharp for the 2023 season.
Every year we look forward to getting out of maintenance mode and setting sail.
We have just cleared the locks and headed for San Juan islands. This year once again we have so many guests returning for another Alaskan adventure! This really adds to our excitement of getting underway and welcoming so many friends back aboard!

Bubble-net feeding is a behavior engaged in by humpback and Bryde's whales. It is one of the few surface feeding behaviors that humpback whales are known for. This type of feeding can be done alone or in groups with as many as twenty whales participating at once. During this feeding season humpback whales actively feed for up to twenty-two hours a day. This particular pod was caught just north of Petersburg AK July 26

The lion's mane jellyfish, also known as the giant jellyfish or arctic red jellyfish is one of the largest known species of jellyfish. Its range is confined to cold, boreal waters of the Arctic, northern Atlantic, and northern Pacific Oceans. This one was captured in Bay of Pillars, Kuiu island Southeast Alaska.

On our way south , we encountered about 100 pacific white sided dolphins. The swam with the boat , against the boat and all over. On a windy rainy day , we’re still able to witness orca off the bow !!!!!

While watching bubble net feeding , the pod of humpbacks decided to come give a quick hello while heading to their next spot.

The wheel house makes a great vantage point. Especially when your able to see the porpoise swimming with the boat. This particular group of about 10 , played with the boat for about 25 minutes !!!!

Southern area of stevens passage , we encountered yet another pod of orcas , this time they were not to shy and not racing through the water. We were able to get up close and personal.
