SoftCell Regeneration
One of the best and most convenient differences between SoftCell portable water softeners and our competitors is how simple and easy it is to maintain. All regular maintenance is done through the attached filter. No need to go into the main resin tank. Read the simple steps below.
To regenerate the resin in your SoftCell, we use the Pre-Filter housing and Refillable Regen Cartridge as a brine-generating tank. To regenerate the SoftCell do the following:
1) Turn off the water and disconnect from the RV, Camper or Boat.
2) Remove the filter cartridge from the Pre-Filter housing.
3) Fill the Refillable Regen Cartridge with salt pellets, such as Morton softener salt pellets, and install back on the Pre-Filter cap.
4) Turn on the water at a slow rate (pencil or finger thickness) and run until the salt pellets have completely dissolved in the cartridge.
5) For the SoftCell Tote, one cycle is adequate to regenerate the system. This will take about 15-20 minutes.
6)For the SoftCell Standard or Dual, once the salt has dissolved, turn off the water. Refill the cartridge a second time and repeat the process. Total time should take about 25-30 minutes.
7) When complete, re-use or if needed, replace the filter with a new 10-20 micron cartridge. Run the water for a few minutes and check the water to make sure it does not taste salty.
You’re Done!
The system is now regenerated and ready to soften more water.
