"After working in copper fabrication for ten years, I decided to set out on my own to experience greater freedom in terms of spending time with my family. The towering white oak leaf sculpture, created by Deedee Morrison, resonates with the huge tree that has overlooked the property for generations. Located on the historic Moon Lake school campus in Mentone, this public art exhibit invites visitors to reflect on our connection to nature. The beautifully landscaped area includes custom-made benches and a large shade sail.

When you are staying at Hoot Owl, visit Moon Lake Village—Mentone, Alabama! Lovely shops, Gallery by Andiamo Lodge, shady playground for kids, with a picnic table, and the beginnings of a sculpture garden which will be completed in early June. If you purchase artwork at one of the local galleries, drop it off at Cloudland Framing, also located at MLV (Moon Lake Village).

Be sure to walk toward the amphitheater to see the carved Ukulele player by local artist Don Highfeild (see more of his work at Moon Lake Trading Co. ) Then, continue to the Community Walking Trail with painted picket fence & musical instruments & murals by local artist, Lydia Randolph Fine Art and Portraiture.
After that, pop into Moon Lake Public Library to cool off. They always have a books for sale, and their t-shirts are precious!
