Don't make the mistake I made... While traveling in Israel, I plugged my cell phone in to an adapter for charging it instead of a converter. Luckily, it had come out from the wall a little and when I went to push the adapter back in, I realized the phone was so hot I couldn't touch it. This is because the adapter is only adapting the shape of the US plug to the shape of the outlet of the country you are in. It does not convert the 220 voltage to 110. Just to be safe, from now on I charge my phone off of a portable charger that I carry with me.
