The San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway depot in Poth, Texas circa 1890. The SA & AP first began operation in the U.S. state of Texas in 1886. It was developed by Uriah Lott and businessmen of San Antonio as a direct route from the city to Aransas Bay on the Texas Gulf coast. It was later absorbed by the Southern Pacific.

Fly High

Decided it was time to start making use of my drone again. It's been a long while. Boy was I rusty. My good friend Karl Hattman was able to make me operational again, this past weekend. Then, earlier this week, it was time for some solo flights. Here's a glimpse of the results. A late day look at our charming, Rockport Beach.

I've decided to bring it with me on our upcoming trip to the Pacific coast. Celebrated Bixby bridge might be target numero uno. I think of a drone as a camera attached to a monster selfie stick. Oh, the possibilities.....

Troy Lancaster of Port Aransas brought in what appears to be a state-record bluefin tuna on Tuesday, April 13. The fish weighed in at 876 pounds and was 121 inches long. The state-record bluefin tuna, caught in 1985, weighed 808 pounds and was 103 inches long. Lancaster's group was fishing for blue marlin about 160 miles off Port Aransas when he caught this monster. He first hooked the fish at 9:20 a.m., and it took him until 6:30 p.m. to land it. Lancaster said that it took more than an hour to get the beast into the boat. He was fishing aboard the Quantified with Capt. Justin Drummond. In the photo, from left, are Drummond, Lancaster, Cameron Plaag, Larry Rackley and Tony Coberly.
