In its top story Tuesday, travel trade publication TravelAge West features an interview with Pleasant Holidays President & CEO David Hu. The wide-ranging interview covers Pleasant Holidays’ opportunities, trends in the travel industry and his outlook on the future of the company.

“Jack (Richards) has done a great job shepherding this company over the last 17 years. He's done great in terms of maintaining the profitability and the growth of the company,” Hu says in the article. “But, do I look at what he's left me and say, ‘Hey, there's a huge opportunity here?’ Heck yeah, I do.”

Today marks the end of an era at Pleasant Holidays with the announcement that our President & CEO, Jack E. Richards, will retire in January after 46 years in the travel industry. With Jack in the lead, Pleasant Holidays has diversified its vacation offerings beyond a Hawaii-centric organization to a global travel company providing vacation packages, cruises and travel related services to 84 countries worldwide. We wish him the best as he embarks on his next chapter.

“It has been an incredible honor to lead and serve this great company for over 17 years as President & CEO. I am extremely proud of what we accomplished and am forever grateful to the Pleasant Holidays team,” he said. “The company is well-positioned for long-term growth and continued success.”

As we reflect on the 17 prosperous years under Jack’s capable leadership, we look forward to continued growth and innovation under the guidance of our incoming President & CEO, David Hu.

David brings a wealth of travel-industry experience to the helm of Pleasant Holidays, including 13 years leading a luxury tour operator. We welcome him and look forward to thriving under his leadership.
