In July we had the honor of hosting 25 university faculty and staff for a week-long Group Site Visit in honor of our 15th Anniversary, representing an array of unique institutional profiles, academic disciplines, and areas of student support.🎉 🙌

We spent the week having insightful conversations about experiential education and best practices for supporting students, engaging with our Barcelona School for International Studies (SIS) faculty and host families, seeing the city through the eyes of our students via visits to local campuses and cultural engagement activities, y mucho más. ⭐

Earlier this month we celebrated the 15th Anniversary of Barcelona SAE with traditional Spanish cuisine, live music, and even a castell (Catalan human tower) performance under the stars at an 11th century Catalan farmhouse. 🎉 🙌

Feliz mes del orgullo a todxs! 🏳️‍🌈 The 2024 Pride celebrations are just getting kicked off this week in Barcelona, with tons of events promoting self affirmation, equal rights, sexual diversity, and gender variance today through July 21st. 🎉

Barcelona SAE is pleased to announce that the Education Abroad Knowledge Community of NAFSA Association of International Educators has awarded our very own Miko McFarland with the Lily von Klemperer Award. 🏆 ⁠

Miko began her role as Director of University Relations at Barcelona SAE in December 2022. Prior to Barcelona SAE, Miko served as the Director of Education Abroad and Exchanges at the University of Kentucky for over eight years.⁠
⁠
The Lily von Klemperer Award was established in 1988. The first year, it was awarded to its namesake in honor of the inspiration, guidance, and training that she provided within education abroad. Since then, the award is presented by the Education Abroad Knowledge Community (EAKC) in Lily’s name at NAFSA annual conferences to worthy education abroad professionals who are seen still to have years to devote to the profession. The “LvK” Award seeks to recognize people who, like Lily, have “brought other [education abroad professionals] along” in the field and who maintain the highest standards of professional ethics while sharing their skills, knowledge, and expertise with all colleagues.⁠
