Yesterday, our founder had the privilege of sitting in on a young lady’s mock scholarship interview. During this time, Tamika and two other interviewers asked her questions and gave her feedback.
From our founder “Yall! This young Black girl from South Carolina was so nervous, yet talented, passionate and sure of her goals. During the end of the call, one of the interviewers told her he would be giving her a $500.00 scholarship, and I said I’d personally match that! She cried immediately, and was grateful, but yall know my work, I want to do more. Without the scholarship she’s applying for she’ll likely have to explore other options and this HBCU is her top choice! That’s where yall come in! I’m raising more funds through to ensure she has additional financial support, as she’ll also be moving out of state. The last time we did this(pre-pandemic) two students at Bloom secured enough funds where as they haven’t had to take out student loans.”
