Disembarked Avalon Passion, walked down the pier and embarked AmaSerena. The cruise lines moved the luggage and it will arrive in my stateroom later today. What a pleasant surprise to be served a delicious lunch in the lounge while I wait for my cabin to be available!

I chose this itinerary for the castles, and this one did not disappoint! This is Wertheim Castle (Burg Wertheim), and getting to the top was worth every step! We had an excellent guide that also showed us pictures of when this area was occupied by N**i soldiers and told us the story of two courageous residents that saved the village when they climbed to the castle keep to raise a white flag on April 1, 1945, as the Americans were advancing. They are considered heroes in this area as they saved so many lives and kept the town from being destroyed. It was absolutely incredible to see this in person.

Cruise manager Jessi giving a German food culture presentation today. It's the first real break we've had for down time with an approximately 24 hours stretch just sailing. We'll be arriving in Wertheim this afternoon where I think I'm going to do a castle hill hike. I was planning a walking tour, but I really want to see this castle ruin and the views. One of my favorite things is that you can change your mind at the last minute and pick something different!

How to make the most of Google Maps when you travel 🔎

➡️ Save Offline Maps: Before you go, download maps for your destination by tapping the location, choosing "Download," and voilà! Now you can navigate without internet.

➡️ Explore with Street View: Here`s a cool trick! Drop the adorable yellow peg man on the map and virtually stroll through the streets. It`s like being there already. Do this around your hotel to get familiar with nearby places.

➡️ Discover Nearby Places: This is one of my favorites! Use the "Explore" feature to find attractions, restaurants, bars, parks, you name it, all in your vicinity. It`s like having a local guide right in your pocket!

🌍 There is a new travel requirement for Europe on the horizon and I've been seeing some misinformation circulating. If it's implemented according to schedule, this will begin in 2024️.

📌 ETIAS is a new travel requirement instituted by the European Union for visitors from visa-exempt countries, including the US. Its purpose is to enhance security measures while facilitating seamless travel across the Schengen Zone.

📅 Starting in 2024 (subject to possible changes), most US travelers visiting European countries will need an ETIAS travel authorization. Rest assured, the application process is straightforward, and there's no need for last-minute chaos.

📝 It's important to note that ETIAS authorization is NOT a visa. The online application can be completed easily without the collection of biometric or medical data. Once approved, the authorization will be linked to your passport, allowing you to travel for up to 90 days. It remains valid for up to 3 years or until your passport expires.

🤔 Mythbuster: All US travelers, with a few exceptions, are required to obtain ETIAS authorization. If you're above 70 or under 18, you won't have to pay the EUR 7 application fee, but the application process still needs to be completed.

🖥️ The online application takes only 10 minutes and requires basic information such as personal details, travel document information, occupation, travel plans, and any criminal history.

💼 For clients with 2024 travel plans to the EU, if the program is implemented before your trip, I'll provide you with detailed information and links to obtain your ETIAS authorization. I'm here to guide you through the process, ensuring you're fully prepared for your European adventure.

ATTN: New Jersey, California, and Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.

In a move that it hopes helps ease some of the long waiting times for passport renewals, the State Department is launching a series of in-person events to help Americans apply for passports.

The U.S. State Department has announced a series of Special Passport Acceptance Fairs that will allow Americans to apply for their passports in person. Most of the events are for first-time customers and children, so those looking for renewal will still have to do so by mail.

The events will run through July and August at libraries, post offices, and other venues in a number of different cities, mostly in New Jersey, California, and Florida, with a smaller number in Georgia, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Some of the events do require appointments ahead of time, while others are allowing for walk-ins.

The events only offer routine and expedited service and those who need a passport for “urgent travel” are still being told to make an appointment at a passport agency or center.

What`s on your to-do list today? 📝 You'll find me checking the weather. 🌞

One thing my clients don't really realize about me is that I often check the forecast when they're on a trip.

Obviously, I can't do anything about the weather except hope for the best, but I always like to know what a client will run into, especially if a major storm is approaching.

Today, I'm checking the weather in Clarksville, Tennessee. The forecast shows 90 degrees and sunny, so maybe a little hot, but I know they'll be in air conditioning quite often, and it's not raining so that's a plus.

Why are they in Clarksville of all places when I normally share posts about Europe river cruising? Well, I also book clients on US rivers. This picture is the American Countess and she's sailing a Cumberland River Exploration Cruise. I can't wait to hear about it when my clients return home!
