Kat previously worked as a custom art framer. Often, clients would pick up their pieces and then ask what they should do next. Kat saw that people not only needed help installing their work, but also finding the right place. Kat has previous experience with several art galleries, and was trained to hang art professionally. She enjoys the art of installation and design. Whether she is creating a ga

llery wall with your family photos, or hanging posters for a restaurant, Kat will treat your work with care and thoughtfulness.

Beautiful textile pieces. First is by . It still needed to be brushed out post install, but it’s so beautiful and fluffy! Second is by . This was a tricky piece to hang in a narrow, high space. The colors are bright and cheery greeting you each time you go downstairs. I also admired how Emily attached the textile to the wooden bar. Genius idea!

Beautiful piece by .k She makes “intricate compositions made of tens of thousands of rolled, hand-dyed mulberry paper pieces.” I hung this piece in a stairwell. It is 3D so being able to see it from different angles is beautiful.

Little project in Tacoma today. This split flap sign needed a frame over it to keep people from touching it. Proctor created a shadow box with acrylic glazing to fit over the sign (which was already mounted to the wall). I locked the frame in place using security hangers. The quote happened to pop up when I took the photo.

I started the design for this project over a month ago. The client had so many pieces, and wasn’t sure where and how to put them up. A number of items were also unframed. A majority of the items were finished, and I was able to hang them today. Waiting on two pieces and the clock top to be repaired. Super pleased with how it looks.

These two works were mounted on tile walls. BUT these walls have had a few different surfaces since the 60s. There was brick and a different tile hiding underneath. Thank goodness for good drill bits! The piece by Soal was also heavy and fragile. Lifting it without being stabbed by the toothpicks or breaking them was quite the feat.

This exhibit was so interesting to install. All of the pieces relate to biology or the medical field in some way. Several of the pieces were textiles, and so beautifully done.

Projects from the last few weeks. The asymmetrical piece (first two photos) was especially tricky. Aside from being up high, we were on a house boat. Levels don’t work on a house boat 😄 We had to judge how straight it was by eye.

For the next project: I really liked how the mirrors gave the room a polished look. Great way to finish the area on either side of the bed.

Installed this massive piece by .adams It was so heavy because it is comprised of beads and some crystals. His work and story are worth a look.

From artsy.net: “A gay, practicing Muslim born in apartheid-era South Africa, Igshaan Adams draws on his faith and the multiplicity of his own identity as he produces labor-intensive, woven works that include hanging tapestries, rugs, and standing sculptures.”

Another one in the books. This project started with existing items, and I added suggestions based on the space and design. Once the client had a majority of the items, I did the installation. More items are coming (the brown paper placeholders) and prints need to be created. But, the client is overjoyed with how it looks 😊

Wide variety of pieces and styles over the past week. I especially love how things turned out with the rug and 2D pieces. All of the colors and textures work beautifully together.

The collage wall included pieces made by my client’s children long ago. It gives the arraignment even more personality.

Lastly, the birds are mounted on posts of varying depth. They are also three different finishes: gold, brass, and iron. The shadows fill out the design.

Bit of a photo dump:

1- my youngest wanted to redo her room design. I installed this net canopy over her pillow and strung the lights so she has her own magical spot.
2- creating another gallery wall design for a client’s stairwell. I have yet to find an online platform that can do what I want. For now, I’m stuck going old school with graph paper 😄
3- a nice corner with family memories

Hung this beast yesterday. It is 8.75’ x 6’. Utilized a French cleat. This time the art already had the 1x4 board on the back. I used a 2x4x48 which gave it a little bit of an angle. Client loves how it turned out.

2022 v 2018: my client filled all of the frames I hung for her in 2018, and is ready to do more. I’ll create a design like last time to help her purchase frames. Then I’ll install everything while she decides on prints. I will also add velcro strips to the back of each picture because crooked art is the worst!

This client had an unusual request. They need a way to hang this carved wooden piece. The issue was the back of the piece had wood hinges that stuck out two inches.

My way to remedy this issue was to research a sturdy shelf that could hold over 100 lbs, and create a bracket that attaches to the piece and the wall. From the options I suggested, the client chose a beautiful shelf from .co

The bracket is made from two corner brackets overlapped and secured with bolts, lock washers, and nuts. The brackets will be painted black so they don’t stand out as much from the side.

I think it was a success, and the client was very pleased with the result.
