I hope everyone back home had a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by loved ones. Just over a week ago, I arrived in Colombia, and the transition has been remarkably smooth. Earlier this year, I spent three months in Sogamoso, Boyacá, searching for artisans to collaborate with for my organization Sumercé Artisans. And now, it has been a truly enriching experience to share my plans for the gallery with each artisan over a cup of coffee.
I consider myself fortunate to collaborate with such a talented group of individuals. I believe that this gallery, with its focus on Colombian artists in the department of Boyacá, will not only be distinctive to my hometown of Fond du Lac but to the entire state of Wisconsin and perhaps even the country.
My focus has been divided between preparing the store for the holidays and nurturing the relationships established earlier this year. While being away from the gallery isn't ideal at this crucial time, I'm grateful for the incredible support from family and friends who have helped maintain the space in my absence.
Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday, and I find myself reflecting on all the wonderful people that support our downtown businesses in Fond du Lac. Even though I'll miss seeing you in person tomorrow, your support through this campaign means the world to me, and I'm grateful for every contribution, no matter the size.
Next week, I will introduce some new faces to Sumercé Artisans. Thank you for your continued support.
