Making a couple more prototypes of the new model, with my coffee can forge, while waiting for the factory version. Steel is 1084+ for the blade and 5160 for the lock spring.
This little forge lets me get some protos made when I don't have access to the main shop and salt pots.
Built this little forge from a coffee can some years ago and now that some of my equipment is in limbo until I get a bigger facilities, I find that this forge is quite capable of heat treating small parts for the folder prototypes. Forge is fired with a standard propane torch.

Debating whether or not to sell these two at the swap meet on October 29th here at my shop..

The press has made many bars of Damascus and has a brand new hydraulic cylinder, it may need a new motor.

The Little Giant 50 has new babbitt bearings and all new parts. Only thing missing is the foot treadle and a motor.

Here is another prototype in progress. Notice that I have left some of the parts rectangular and parallel. I find that this makes it a lot easier to precisely place all the holes and machine the lock slot and stop pin track. Next step is to profile the shapes, harden the parts and grind in the blade bevels.

In the rough but proving out the new design. Round two make a few more protos with minor changes. It's still a Xross Bar Lock but with some changes in the lock.
