Inviting experienced kayakers to join us on a full-moon paddle on Sunday night (Easter Sunday), limited to 10-12 kayakers due to parking space. Weather permitting.
Fee: None, this is a kayak trip amongst new and existing friends.
Skill Level: This is advanced level kayaking. You must be able to climb up and down the dock ladder and step into/out of your kayak (balance with the kayak is a must). You will need to be able to reverse your kayak and turn in any direction easily. Much of the kayaking will be in low light, and you need to be very comfortable with controlling your direction in that condition.
Start Time: Arrive at 7:00 PM so we can launch between 7:15 and 7:30 pm. We will enjoy the sunset around 7:45 PM before we head out to the water way trails.
End Time: Around an hour or 8:45 to 9:00 PM.
RSVP: Yes, please confirm by messenger chat. We will send you the exact address and our phone number privately.
Kayak Route: Our canal borders John Pennekamp park so most of the kayaking will be through those well maintained trails. We will have 2 guides, with one leading only on open (uncovered) trails and the other will have a more technical route through the mangrove tunnels of the Sandy Creek trail, that has low branches, some tight turns and will require a light to get through it.
What to bring: Kayak/paddle, bug spray, water proof light (cell phones are not good), drinking water and a life jacket (required).
Weather forecast: Partly cloudy, 20% chance of rain, and mid 70s to low 80s temperatures. If it looks like we may have rain or heavy cloud cover, we will cancel this trip.
