Uncover the Magic of Botswana on an Authentic and Intimate Safari
Our Camp’s design embraces the raw beauty of nature. We keep everything simple but elegant with organic tones and textures and spaces designed for comfort. Plush mattresses, showers under the open sky, metal basins, and practical storage are hallmarks of our camp. It’s how a safari was always meant to be experienced.

For most guests, we know that sustainable and responsible tourism practices are critical to your choice of safari operators. It’s important that you know your money is going toward a camp that is dedicated to the well-being of the environment, wildlife, and local communities. And at Brave Africa Safaris, that is our main mission.
Our camps are designed with eco-friendly principles in mind, minimizing our ecological footprint. Our motto is: we take only photos and leave behind only footprints. In fact, once our team packs up a camp and moves sites, it is like we were never there.
Our goal is to be in harmony with nature as much as we can. After all, the best way to experience Botswana’s wildlife is with an eco-conscious approach.
Botswana has almost double the elephants of ANY other country in Africa—over 130,000—along with 163 other species of mammals, including the usual suspects: lions, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, wildebeest, zebra, rhino, etc. The country is also home to more than 550 species of birds, including many rare and endangered species you’ll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else.
Has someone told you, “You just have to go on an African wildlife safari!” Take their advice.
The word “safari” is a Swahili word that means “journey or trip.” This is why, when we discuss going on safari, we don’t talk about an end goal. It’s about spending time exploring the bush and everything it has to offer. It is about the journey, and experiencing everything you can—and not the destination.

We've shown you many photos and videos of our tents from the inside, but here's a look at the outside!
The very back is your shower area. It is open to the sky for a wonderful in-nature experience (while still enjoying your privacy). The window before that is the window to your toilet, sink, and closet area. It has a separate door from the shower and the main sleeping area of the tent. The front two windows belong to the bed area, where you'll spend the most time. Finally, you have a front deck with chairs, wash basins, and an incredible view!
Baby hippos (also called calves) are incredibly playful, just like all baby animals. They are happy to mock-fight with their friends, climb all over mom, and even show off their teeth when needed. We could watch them play all day!
Did you know that cheetahs typically hunt during the day? This is to avoid competition from bigger predators such as lions, hyenas, wild dogs, and leopards. And they can really hunt! They use their exceptional eyesight to scan their surroundings first, then once they choose their prey, they quietly stalk them. When they are close enough and the time is right, they sprint from cover, knock down their prey, and kill it with a bite to the throat. It is incredible to witness.
Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads!
Have you ever wondered what it sounds like to sleep in a tent, under canvas while on safari? Here's just a little taste.
The bells you hear? Those are Bell Frogs, and are itty-bitty to make such big sounds.
Relaxing at Brave Africa's camp is never a bad idea. You'll love the peace, quiet, and connection to nature.
Enjoy the sun rising over the Khwai River on the edges of the Okavango Delta.
It is well worth waking up early to watch every morning. And don't worry, you can enjoy breakfast and coffee while you watch!
If you join us on a safari in Moremi, you'll have a unique option: a boating safari. This is different than traditional mokoro, which places you into a canoe-like boat and slowly pushes you around the shallows of the Delta. On a boating safari, you'll jump into a motorized boat and head into the deep water of the Delta to see what you can see. It is not only beautiful but relaxing.
Just another magnificent day at Brave Africa!
It is not every day you see a cheetah, but it is always magical when it happens. Savuti, Moremi, and Khwai all offer prime cheetah territory—if you are on the lookout and you get lucky! Our recent guests got very lucky to see this beautiful lady with an impala kill.
What is it like on a walking safari? You never know what you'll encounter. The important thing to remember is to ALWAYS listen to your guide and to respect the wildlife. Our Guide and Owner, Wina, has over 15 years of experience working with wildlife in the bush and has the utmost respect for every animal he encounters. That is how you stay safe on safari and have an amazing time!
We do not approach animals unsafely or seek to interrupt wildlife. But sometimes, wildlife will surprise you. We are, after all, in their home. In this case, the elephant came out of the bush where our guests and guide happened to be walking. Our guide, walked ahead to ensure guest safety. In most cases, the elephant will walk away with no issues. However this time, the bull elephant was not comfortable and tried an intimidation tactic. The last thing you should do for safety is turn/run away. Instead, our guide was able to safely and respectfully use noise (by banging on the gun) to turn the elephant around and end the interaction with no harm done. The gun is only there in an absolute worst-case scenario, and even then, shots are fired for noise.
Good morning from Brave Africa!
Would you like some fire-toasted bread for breakfast? Incredible ambiance included!
