The Division of Recreation has already started planning our great Summer Camps! We are excited to announce the dates and times for the 1st Camp of the summer - Our Popular Grassroots Basketball Shooting Camp! 🏀

This will be our 5th Consecutive Summer of Division of Recreation Grassroots Basketball Camp! 🏀

Outdoor Basketball Shooting Camp at 1st Street Courts! 🏀

Division of Recreation Announces Registration for SEASON 1️⃣0️⃣ of the Special Needs Baseball League, Buddy Baseball! ‼️

💫 Parade, Ceremony and Opening Day Games! Saturday, May 3rd!

⚾️ The “Buddy Baseball League” is a program for developmentally and physically challenged youth and adults, ages 4 to adult, helping them to enjoy the full benefits of baseball participation in an athletic environment structured to their abilities.

⚾️ More than the skills of baseball and softball learned through the experience, the value of the “Buddy Baseball” League is found in the proven therapeutic and socialization benefits of participating in sports, the strengthening of participants’ self-esteem, the opportunities to mainstream into other divisions of play, and the disciplines of teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play.

🌟 Mission: To provide children with special needs the opportunity to succeed at playing baseball in a program structured to their abilities.

🌟 Goal: The most fundamental goal of “Buddy Baseball” is to give everyone a chance to play, regardless of limitations

🌟 Eligibility: Any Bayonne resident, ages 4 to adult with a physical or developmental challenge.

When and Where:

✅ Saturdays: May 3rd, May 10th, May 17th, May 31st, June 7th and June 14th.

✅ Games will begin at 10:00am and will last about 45 minutes. Games/teams will be broken down by age and/or grade. Games will be played at 11th Street Field on Avenue E. * Dates subject to change.

🌟 Uniforms: Every player will receive a baseball jersey, baseball pants, baseball socks, and a hat.

⚾️ Games: Games will consist of 2/3 innings. Every player will bat and play the field. Strikes and outs will not be counted.

🌟 Equipment: Bats and balls will be provided. It is recommended players bring baseball gloves. The Division of Recreation will supply gloves to those who do not have one

🌟 Teams: Each team will consist of 10-12 players.

🌟 Buddy Program: Buddies will assist players according to their needs. This may include helping a player bat or field the ball, pushing a wheelchair bound child around the bases or motivating a player

🌟 Cost: There is no fee to participate.

❤️ We received these great photos from the NJ Veterans Home in Paramus of our Division of Recreation Valentines for Veterans Visit. It was a memorable experience for Bayonne and BHS Students! Thank you to all those who helped with this great project! We collected over 6,000 Valentines for Veterans!❤️

Division of Recreation Pre-K4 Spring Flag Football! Registration ends 3/14.

The Division of Recreation is holding registration for Spring Pre-K4 Flag Football.

The League is open to boys and girls in Pre-K 4/4 years of age as of March 1st.

(Flag Football Season for Children in grade K - 8 is September through November)

All participants must be Bayonne residents.

THE FEE FOR THE YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE IS $40.00/PER PLAYER (includes game jersey).The fees collected will go towards the costs of running the program. The fee is non-refundable.

Happy Friday! The Division of Recreation is ready to start the month of March with some exciting programs this weekend! 🌟

Our Floor Hockey League will conclude the season with semi-final games on Saturday and championships on Sunday! 🥅🏒

Our Special Needs Sports Program will meet on Saturday at 2:00pm at the BHS Ice Rink Gym for Basketball! Joining us are the BHS Boys and Girls Basketball teams! 🏀

From 4:00pm to 6:00pm is Open Gym Basketball! the 5/6 Grades will meet from 4:00pm to 5:00pm and the 7/8 Grade will meet from 5:00pm to 6:00pm! We have had great turnouts each week and will continue with open gym throughout the month of march! 🏀

On Sunday, our Special Needs Puzzle Club will meet from 12:00pm to 1:30pm at the Bayonne Museum! 🧩
