As I sit here on this beautiful beach in the Riviera Maya, I am scrolling through my Facebook timeline and see that my travel agent colleagues and friends are currently in Jamaica, Mexico, Hawaii, Paris, Vietnam, Vegas, Fort Lauderdale, Dominican Republic, Italy, Africa, Austria and Fiji.
The first thing that comes to mind is how blessed we are all to be in these incredible places around the world. The second thing is how lucky we are to have the most amazing job that we collectively love and are so passionate about.
The third thing is how I wish everyone around us in our families, friends, circles, and on our facebooks realized that although we ARE blessed and we ARE lucky, we are also NOT on vacation.
Yes we are having drinks on the beach, and yes we are jetting around on catamarans, and yes we are in helicopters, private planes and in some pretty awesome villas and resorts, but we all have one thing in common-we are here for our clients.
We are taking time away from our families and home lives, spending our own money, putting in 15 or more hour days to learn about new destinations, see every hotel, room category, spa, restaurant and gym so that we can do the best job for our clients.
We are blessed, we are lucky, but we also are working.
