Meet the Sea Rim Sandies! Sea Rim State Park - Texas Parks and Wildlife, was their home base for Great Texas Birding Classic. They overnighted with the birds at the marsh unit cabin. As we are in peak migration, one of the ways you can help birds make a successful trip is to keep your outdoor cats indoors. Domestic cats kill an estimated 2.4 billion birds annually. Migrating birds travel hundreds to thousands of miles and Galveston is a resting place for many of them. Cats often take advantage of these weakened birds. If you insist on keeping outdoor cats, PLEASE consider bringing them inside at least during peak migration! 🙏

And, Lights Out again 11pm-6am, please. Cornell's Birdcast predicts a high number of birds flying tonight. Let's show the birds that we take our Bird City TX certification seriously. Thanks, Galveston! 👏

Texas State Parks 100th Birthday is Saturday, tomorrow! Sea Rim State Park is joining the rest of Texas State Parks for a “100 S’more Years Celebration” from 5pm to 7pm. Play games, roast marshmallows and make some memories on the beach! Ask the rangers your questions, or challenge them to game of gaga ball - the choice is yours! We are so thankful to have Sea Rim in our backyard, and we look forward to celebrating the next 100 years tomorrow!
