*** March 8 or 9**** If you've wanted to try SCUBA want to see if it's for you before you sign up for a full class, this is you chance....come out to the HealthPark and Try Scuba...it only takes a couple of hours on a Saturday or Sunday.....you'll spend some time learning about SCUBA and then you'll get to try out the equipment in the pool....all under the supervision of a trained instructor....multiple time slots are available each day.....registration in advance is required.....

Planning a dive trip soon? Don't let packing overwhelm you! Here's how to ensure you have everything you need for an amazing underwater adventure, especially when flying:

1. **Checklist Time!** ✔️ Start with a list to ensure you won't forget essentials. Include items like wetsuit, fins, mask, snorkel, regulator, BCD, dive computer, and underwater camera.
2. **Pack Light, Pack Right.** 🎒 Optimize space by rolling clothes instead of folding. Save room for those extra gear bits you might pick up along the way.
3. **Protect Your Gear.** 🛡️ Use padded bags for fragile items and consider carrying crucial dive gear as hand luggage to avoid any mishaps. Make sure your carry-on meets airline size regulations.
4. **Weight Limits Matter.** ⚖️ Know your airline's baggage policies, including weight and size restrictions, to avoid unexpected fees. Consider using a lightweight luggage scale to keep track.
5. **Dive Gear in Check-in?** 📦 For larger dive items like BCDs and fins, it may be best to pack them in checked luggage. Just ensure they are well-protected.

BELIZE REEF CONSERVATION TRIP June 15-22, 2025

Happy New Year Divers!!!! Now is the time to start thinking about your 2025 dive trips and one of the best and most rewarding trip DSI has scheduled is this trip to Belize. This is the most educational dive trip that DSI has to offer if you really want to learn about the ocean and have fun while doing it. What Will I be doing?

Marine Conservation Education: Learn about coral reefs, marine animals and how we can protect them
Biodiversity ID Dives: ID fish, turtles, sharks, invertebrates, and coral
Beach clean-ups: Weekly beach and island trash/plastic removal from the Belize Barrier Reef
Invasive Lionfish: Spearfishing to remove destructive invasive species
River ride & Mayan temple tour with shuttle to Belize City

What’s Included:

2 nights hotel in Placencia (before and after)
Island transfers
One Night hotel stay in Belize City
5 days/4 nights on private island
3 meals/day on island
12-13 dives, including 1 night dive
Conservation training and activities

Itinerary:

First Day, make your way individually to Placencia and spend time Belize living at Julia's Guesthouse. The next day we will make our way to the docks to take our boat out to Tom Owen's Caye where we will spend the next 5 days on the island helping to take care of our ocean with some fun along the way. Return to the island for a day in Placencia. Following day we head to our Zipline and Inland Blue Hole tour followed by a drop off at our hotel in Belize City. Final day, wake up and head back to the states.
