Net-Results is the first choice of people buying marketing automation for the second time. Net-Results is a little different. Here’s how that happened:
Once upon a time, back in 2003, head-nerd Michael Ward created this cool little tool called “Net Leads”. With it, customers could discover who had visited their website.
They loved it, and soon Net Leads was servicing hundreds of customers. And then those customers asked: “Could you also make it so we get an alert when a certain company visits our website?” and Mike said: “Sure.”
Then they asked: “Could you make it so we can send an email through the platform?” and Mike said: “Sure.”
This went on for several years, when a sales person was asking Mike what his company (by now not just Mike anymore) did. When Mike explained, the sales person said: “So, you’re like Marketo?” and Mike said: “Sure.”
It was only after the sales person had left that Mike checked Google to see what “Market-o” was exactly. That’s when he realized that the cute little tool he’d built years earlier had turned into what was now called a “marketing automation platform”.
Thus Net Leads, by now called Net-Results, was born into the what it is now: a full suite of marketing automation tools.
And yet, it was - and still is not - like the others.
You see, Net-Results is “marsupial”. It’s like a kangaroo, or a wombat. It’s a mammal, but it evolved separately from other mammals - on an island.
Like that, Net-Results evolved on an island, not knowing what it was until it met others of its kind. And that’s why certain things are different.
Back in the day, Mike thought it’d be handy to be able to segment data on literally every data point possible. That’s what he’d want in his own product, and so it was built.
With a segmentation engine in place, Mike made sure said segments could be applied anywhere in the platform - whether it was scoring leads, building campaigns or setting up alerts.
Why build separate functionality, when you can leverage what you have?
Mike also believed in supporting customers. He was distraught to learn some of his newfound competitors charged extra for support, or didn’t even offer support all. This would not fly at Net-Results!
He also found many customers had been burned by competitor pricing. Having to navigate a swamp of “add-ons” and “hidden costs” they had gotten less than what they thought they had bargained for.
Mike resolved to do things differently. And that’s the way we still do it:
