Two swimmers successfully crossed the Frederick Sound near Petersburg in mid-July. They spent hours in the glacier-fed water, which runs 600 feet deep in parts. It’s the first time in living memory that anyone ever made it across the seven-mile stretch.

Initially I was so upset that Alaska Airlines was repainting the salmon thirty salmon.

But this is so much better and represents the true culture of Alaska! Crystal Worl is a magnificent artist!!

I cant wait to fly on this aircraft!!!!!

As a tribute to Salmon People, this special Boeing 737-800 depicts the ancestral importance of salmon through Northwest Coast formline art. The monumental design, by Crystal Worl, is a one-of-a-kind work that honors Alaskan salmon, culture and language.

This iconic Alaska Airlines plane, the Salmon Thirty Salmon, is slated to be repainted. Some feel so strongly about this that there is a petition to save the paint theme. Full story below:)

Alaska Airlines will paint over “Salmon Thirty Salmon,” the custom Boeing 737 that looks like an 129-foot-long Alaska king salmon, the company confirmed Monday.
