Member Spotlight: Ron Grant, from Brisbane, Australia

We’re excited to highlight longtime Evergreen member Ron Grant from Brisbane, Australia. When Ron and his wife, Sandar, aren’t traveling the world, he volunteers at the Redlands Bay Men’s Shed, an organization where men support their community and share their skills.

Recently, Ron built a Little Library for his community using an old metal wine fridge. This creative upcycling project not only keeps the books safe but also prevents the fridge from ending up in a landfill. Thanks to Ron’s ingenuity, this library will benefit the community for years to come.

Meet one of our beloved Evergreen Club members, Marilyn Weigle, who embarked on her journey with us five years ago, dreaming of frequent long road trips. While her and her husband’s adventures typically amount to one or two trips a year for about a week, the flexibility of Evergreen keeps their travel dreams alive!

For this member, the true essence of the Evergreen B&B Club lies in the beautiful connections made with fellow travelers. “The best part of Evergreen travel is meeting nice people who love to travel and share their experiences,” she says. “It’s always nice to make a connection with people when you travel. I feel like I get to know someone better when I have been in their home. I enjoy hosting people my home, as well.”

Their favorite adventures? Two-week road trips to Texas and Indiana! Exploring the vast landscapes and vibrant cultures of these states has been a highlight. “Our best trips have been our two-week road trips,” they say. “I enjoy searching out interesting things to see and do and making a connection with my Evergreen hosts.”

From the grandeur of Texas to the hidden treasures of Indiana, each journey has been filled with unforgettable moments. “I used to joke that people from Texas think everything is bigger and better in Texas. Now I know why - because it is!”

Meet Joan, a remarkable adventurer turning 90 this year! A proud and cherished Member of Evergreen since 2002, Joan embodies the spirit of exploration like no other.

With a zest for life and a passion for travel, Joan has embarked on incredible journeys across the world.

From exploring the futuristic wonders of the Museum of the Future and the World’s Fair in Dubai to marveling at the contrasting landscapes of Egypt’s black and white sands, Joan’s travel adventures know no bounds. Not one to shy away from excitement, she even coordinated all her own travel arrangements, including taking to the skies in a hot air balloon to catch breathtaking views of the pyramids in Egypt.

Joan’s philosophy on travel is as inspiring as her adventures. “Our world is so beautiful, I want to get out there and see it!” she shares with enthusiasm. For her, travel isn’t just about sightseeing—it’s about continuous learning and embracing new experiences. “Travel keeps me learning new things and trying new things. It keeps me going!”

Our story is out, and we're excited to share the secret of Evergreen with the world.

The Evergreen B&B Club caught the attention of Real Food Traveler's Hospitality Editor, Ron Stern, a 23-year international food and travel photojournalist.
During a recent road trip with his wife through Colorado, California and Arizona, Ron was able to experience some of the offerings of Evergreen, with not just comfortable lodging, but through the kind hospitality of the Evergreen Hosts.
