🍷What new wine region am I in? Part 1:🇫🇷 Bordeaux! 🇫🇷I had the best time visiting the Wine Capital of the World last year! With around 6,000 wine producers, I feel like we hardly made a dent but it was so wonderful to be able to visit different appellations on both the left and right bank, try amazing world-class wines, and see the beautiful châteaus. The left bank and right bank are two Bordeaux winemaking regions separated by an estuary and two rivers. Although only a stone’s throw away from one another, the soil between the two vary significantly Wine Enthusiast Red grapes that are permitted in Bordeaux:🍷Merlot🍷Cabernet Sauvignon🍷Cabernet Franc🍷Malbec🍷Petit Verdot 🍷Carménère ☀️Note: Idaho grows all of these grapes right on the Sunnyslope Wine Trail Inc. within the Snake River Valley AVA Generally: 🍇Left bank = Cabernet Sauvignon 🍇Right bank = Merlot Traveling to places like this in the off-season may not be the best weather or the most beautiful but I personally enjoy less crowds, better reservations, and less expensive travel costs. I can’t wait to return to France one day and do some more exploring! 🥖🍇🍷🥂 What wine regions have you visited? What would you recommend?

Have you ever been to a winery in the winter while it’s snowing? ❄️🍷There is just something so cozy about being at a local winery that smells like warm mulled wine while the snow is falling on the sleeping vineyard 🥰 Today I had the opportunity to do a comparison tasting of the 2020 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon at Kerry Hill Winery. This was fun! Same vineyard, different years, different wine makers. They were both delicious but had different offerings. The private reserve has been aging for one more year and had a longer finish. The 2021 vintage was a bit more fruit forward. Have you had the opportunity to visit Kerry Hill Winery on one of our wine tours? We’re available year-round, 7 days a week! This is a great time to schedule a wine tour while the tasting rooms are slower, or to have your top pick of prime weekend spring/summer dates before we fill up! 🚐🍷
