Day or night Firenze is always beautiful. There's something magical about strolling cities at night. Most tourists have either left from their day visit or having dinner. Many places are as empty as this piazza. It makes for a lovely atmosphere to just take it all in.

One of the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen. While everyone else was looking ahead as we were pulling into Mahon harbor I was looking behind us & captured this. When it comes to travel photography remember your best shot isn't always the one directly in front of you. Beauty is all around you.

Welcome to Abel Tasman National Park! Yesterday's adventure had me cruising the coast along Abel Tasman National Park & then walking a section of the track. It's one of the Great Walks of New Zealand. You can walk the track over a few days, staying overnight in lodges, huts, or camping out. You can also do day walks as I did. I walked from Tonga Quarry to Medlands Beach. Abel Tasman National Park is only accessible by boat.

It truly was stunning. The pictures don't do it justice. Carry in what you need & carry it all out. There are no trash receptacles, but there are toilets at most of the major bays. Pack plenty of water & be prepared for some steady uphill climbing. Well worth it for the views. Definitely a NZ must do!

Lake Rotoroa looking beautiful on this glorious day. If you are visiting the Nelson area be sure to include a day trip to the Nelson Lakes District. You'll be enjoying this amazing scenery in under 90 min driving time. Also, add a stop at Wakefield Bakery for a pie. You'll thank me later.

It's been 5 long years since I visited New Zealand. During that time, I have traveled to many beautiful places, but I have never stopped longing to return to my happy place. The time has finally come!

Join me April 5 as I share my 3 week adventure with you. I will be concentrating solely on the South Island with a few new to me destinations such as Abel Tasman National Park & the Marlborough wine region. Are you one of the expected 55 million people hitting the roads or skies for Thanksgiving? If you are, be sure to double-check travel times & traffic alerts before leaving home.

Here's a tip you may not be aware of. Thanksgiving is a great time to travel internationally! While the domestic terminals are packed, not as many people will be traveling internationally. Crowds will be light (depending on destination), airfare & accommodations will be less expensive. Plan to depart on Wednesday evening or Thanksgiving day & return by mid Dec. Give this some thought for next year.
